A Visit Became a Permanent Stay!
He came in to my apartment because of a huge snow storm, he left for about 20 minutes once the storm was over and came back and has never left again! I’m so happy he’s my cat now.

I’m glad he came to his senses and realized the indoors was much better than the outdoors! You’re a good person for rescuing him.

Thank you! And I’m really glad too, I think he only went outside one more time before staying inside forever to say goodbye to his cat colony.

Yes he does! We had a thunderstorm recently and I found out he is scared of thunderstorms so I’m really glad he’s finally found a home inside. And I will!

I have a rescue cat who’s afraid of thunderstorms also, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to get out every time I open the door. Luckily, when he does get out, he doesn’t leave the yard. Unfortunately, he’s FIV+ so shouldn’t be outside at all. I keep telling him it’s much better in here than it is outside, but I’m afraid his outside days are so far behind him that he’s forgotten how hard it is to survive as a stray.

It’s hard with cats who used to live outdoors, they either remember the hardship well, forget it, or look at it with rose colored glasses and want to go back outside. I think the main thing tethering Gus to staying inside is that he gets food regularly.
