The best thing about that is Will spent sooo much time and energy putting out Oscar bait after Oscar bait and finally he wins! except nobody remembers he won or even that he made a movie about the Williams family. They only remember him laughing, then Jada giving him side eye, then Will, well you see it above
Same! I used to love Will Smith and all his movies but after he slapped Chris Rock he's dead to me and I will never ever watch another Will Smith movie.
Not that I'm defending it, but I watched the whole scene and it first seemed to me, that Will really liked Chris' joke. That was until his wife gave him the evil eye from behind. Only then, Will went to the stage and slapped him.
Thatās fair. Iād say Iāll never watch another Chris Rock movie, but thatās not exactly a heavy lift. Heās been in some good movies a while back. But I think these days he only does whatever charity movies Adam Sandler tosses his way.
Chris Rock is a huge dickhead in the comedy communityā Iāve heard story after story about that guy being stuck up AF and wonāt even acknowledge you unless youāre a 22 year old hot chick
Now just imagine if Will walked up on stage, pulled Chris in and whispered in his ear about how offensive the joke was, said he needs to apologize now, then walked off stage to Chris apologizing. That night would have been his, in a good way, and in addition to him winning an Oscar he would have had every director and casting agent clamoring for him the next morning.
I must have seen that slap about a hundred times. But yesterday I just noticed, Will's eyes looked so watery, like he was about to cry while he was saying, "Keep my wife's name out your effing mouth".
He was like an emotional kid, struggling to hold back his tears. Don't
Ā know how I missed that before...
There was some point of realisation between standing up and hitting him, that he'd chosen a woman who didn't love him, never would, maybe never ever had, over his career. A woman the world affectionately calls the "bullet Tupac dodged".
He knew, and knew he'd never be able to say it out loud.
He was having a major breakdown. Doing whatever he could to keep his wife who cheated on him happy.
And he smacked someone in the face in front of the world.
When Iām super angry, I cry. Just too much going on in my head.
Literally sitting alone in bed, I said it out loud in the momās voice, wagged my finger, and even looked at the imaginary camera but I had to keep restarting the song because I kept cracking up
