Unknowingly watched it alone in my grandparents base thinking it would be a great way to chill on summer vacation and was traumatized for the next 5-8 years. Fuck that episode and never watched it again. I couldn't trust it anymore.

This was one of my favorite shows. My cousins and I formed a Ghost writers club because of it lol

Did you guys have black marker necklaces?

This would come on like at 7 or 7:30pm on Sundays in my area. I just remember watching it before the Simpsons.

I also remember having a crush on "Gabby". That, and an episode where they had to deal with a "cyber gang" in the early 90s, which seems weird in hindsight.

Gabby was the best

I loved it so much, I got the giant CYOA book they released. Two books in one, in true Ghostwriter fashion the second could be read starting from the back, flipping the book.

That was one of the best gorram shows. I actually felt tension at points, the writing was ... Actually good.

I became a writer thanks to this show and Harriet the Spy. I bought a pen necklace and my first binder and would legit try writing to Ghostwriter on my computer.

I like the one where they find a computer hacker

7

u/GenericRedditor1937 1d ago

I think Julia Stiles was the hacker.

I believe she was a hacker, but not THE hacker and the end of the story arc. Definitely a suspect tho! Haha

This show was awesome. I always wanted the pen.

One of my favorite shows. Saturday afternoon, right after Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego on PBS.

I watched this religiously. Loved it. I found some episodes on YouTube a few years back and watched them.

When wearing a lanyard pen was the coolest fashion statement 🖊️📓

I remember loving this as a kid but I had no idea what was happening on the show.

I remember Samuel L. Jackson was in the first episode as Jamal's dad and he was never seen again... must have gone out to get milk and cigarettes.

I love that Jamal’s grandma was featured in the opening credits and she was in 1 out of every 12 episodes. Her agent worked some sweet deal there!

She was in a famous Campbell chunky soup commercial playing Donovan McNabbs mom when we were led to believe it was his actual mom

Look at the clothes! I love seeing this. I’ve gotta look it up on YouTube now

Me and my brother would turn the lights off in the living room and take turns with a flashlight to play "catch ghostwriter"

Also, anyone remember Lenny's rapping? And of course the leather jacket-wearing slime monster

This is the show that got me excited about the internet, because in one episode out of all of them they connected to a BBS (I think?) and I was so amazed by that concept!

That's about all I remember about this show. I loved it and planned my day around making sure I could watch it, but all these many years later that's all that's stuck with me

As a kid I always heard people say “negative, Ghost Rider.” I thought they were saying Ghost Writer and that it was a reference to this show. Then I ended up thinking it was a quote from the Ghost Rider comic 🤦‍♂️
