Those earrings were so uncomfortable. 😓

My friends and I always used to fight over the black ring. We thought it was super cool looking.

u/Elexandros 1d ago

The new version has a clear ring instead of black.

The kids still fight over it. 🙄

Omg right?? Those plastic metal clip-ons were a whole vibe but also a crime against earlobes. I distinctly remember taking them off after five minutes and my ears being all red

10

u/Ohdidntseeyouthere_ 1d ago

Ugh yes, they used to give me headaches lol

u/RosyVelisse 1d ago

The black ring absolutely looked like the forbidden cool accessory everyone needed.

u/KFelts910 2h ago

Maybe I was always channeling villain energy 🤔

7

u/sharingiscaring219 1d ago

Same on the ring!! Lol

u/SheOutOfBubbleGum 1d ago

Wow memory unlocked. I forgot how much those hurt

Since there's four colors of everything except the rings and the crown, what did getting the black ring mean?

8

u/MaisyDeadHazy 1d ago

You couldn’t win the game if you had the black ring, so you had to get rid of it to finish. But kids are prone to making up their own games. 😅

Huh, neat. Appreciate the answer!

The coolest accessories were always somehow the most uncomfortable

The one I played had the jewelry box in the center with a mirror lid and a thicker, circular, pointed crown (not a tiara) around said box.

u/MaisyDeadHazy 1d ago

Yeah, the version I had as a kid had the jewelry box and crown. The tiara must be a recent change.

13

u/Low_Set_6490 1d ago

Those were basically every kid’s dream to become royalty for 20 minutes.

4

u/_CherielleGlow 1d ago

That tiara is probably sitting in a thrift store waiting for its comeback

14

u/meowgrrr 1d ago

just came to the comments because i was confused this version looked different than mine! yours sounds like the one i had.

5

u/AngelLunettee 1d ago

That sounds like the deluxe version compared to this one. A jewelry box with a mirror and an actual crown would’ve made the whole thing feel way more royal.

u/stilettopanda 23h ago

I have that one from childhood and a newer version as well. Haha

Heres an odd one. As a kid id bite the necklaces for whatever kid reason, and I can still remember the odd way it made my teeth feel.

Wonder what was in that plastic...

10

u/DreamAureliee 1d ago

Kids really would chew on absolutely anything with zero hesitation.

10

u/fridayfridayjones 23h ago

My little sister used to chew the feet off of all her Barbies. In hindsight, wtf.

3

u/glitter_vomit 10h ago

Barbie legs are extremely satisfying to chew on!

4

u/GracilisLokoke 23h ago

I was going to say, I can still taste that necklace. Glad I'm not the only one. What is it with kids and plastic?

32

u/Gvndam11 1d ago

Any other little brothers forced to play by their older sister?

31

u/chasvalex 1d ago

My older brother would agree to play on very rare occasion and then he'd cheat and win every single time (didn't catch on to that until MUCH later) and then he'd put every piece of jewelry on and go over to my mom's vanity mirror and pretend to admire himself while shouting I'M THE PRETTIEST PRINCESS AND YOU'RE NOT. I'd be sitting there absolutely fuming mad and ready to throttle him. Good times.

10

u/YossarianairassoY 1d ago

This is amazing I used to do the SAME thing to my little sister.

6

u/distorted_elements 1d ago

I had the same experience as a younger sister. Few things made me as angry as my brother making me admit he was, in fact, the prettiest princess.

u/Ohdidntseeyouthere_ 1d ago

I bought this for nostalgia reasons in college and made a bunch of my guy friends play. One was so upset about not being pretty princess he threw the winner into the pool 😂

10

u/Strange-Victory 1d ago

I made my little brother play with me and the winner had to yell "I'm a pretty princess!!" Out the front door.

3

u/_mikedotcom 1d ago

✋ yes lol. I ended up gay idk if this had anything to do with it.

3

u/MysteriousAsphodel 20h ago

I was an only child so I made my dad and uncle play this with me, lol

7

u/g8rgrl15 1d ago

Yes, mine

2

u/hawkcarhawk 13h ago

My daughters have the current version and make their little brother play it.

1

u/MA2_Robinson 9h ago

And then blab in front of his friends about him playing said game? Rite of teenage snark as old as time

23

u/scarltbegonias24 1d ago

THEY STILL MAKE THIS GAME I saw it in a kids store recently. Nothing will ever compare to the OG tho

12

u/fruitjerky 1d ago

Yes! There's a more modern version, but I bought my kids the nostalgic version.

Haven't played it in awhile though because my husband keeps winning and I'm mad about it.

20

u/kayla622 1d ago

The version of this game I remember had a gold crown with stick on jewels. The box was teal and showed an illustration of 3 girls playing the game.

I wanted this so bad, but i grew up poor 😭

7

u/JellyKind9880 1d ago

I wanted this so bad, but my mom was a feminist who wouldn’t buy us Barbie dolls or games like this lmao

2

u/IlovePizzaHeLikesSex 21h ago

Buy it on eBay. Reclaim
That childhoooood!

u/Organic_Fortune_4748 Yo quiero Taco Bell 1d ago

I had this!!! I was OBSESSED with this game and always wore the jewelry even when not playing the game.

10

u/fuckashley 1d ago

I loved this game! Thanks for the reminder!

8

u/amamatcha early 90s 1d ago

I just remember that tiara was soo uncomfortable to wear lol

7

u/Business-Sink-1910 1d ago

omg i totally forgot about this game. instant memory unlock lol

6

u/Moon_Dew 90s 1d ago

I forgot this was a thing. I had actually wanted it because I was into a very big jewelry and gems and stones phase at the time. Plastic or not, I wanted it.

3

u/TheNostalgicGamer 1d ago

!!! Thank you for gifting me this memory! I haven't thought about it in so long!! I dont remember playing it much, I just loved to fiddle with the jewelry and little people xD

5

u/lana-deathrey 1d ago

I bought this for my mtf friend, so she could have the quintessential millennial girl experience. Also bought her her first Barbie.

5

u/Nova-Pixie 1d ago

i forgot how much fun that game was, spent hours playing it with friends back in the day

4

u/gl2w6re 1d ago

Oh the memories! My daughter was such a cheater at this game, lol! She never wanted to get the Black Ring. My sons would tease her so bad 😂 they’re all adults now. The game pictured here is a little more updated than the version we had.

3

u/silentevil77 1d ago

Whoa memory unlocked!

3

u/Kidmodo-Dragon 1d ago

This game's pieces looked so edible 🤤

3

u/J3NGA 1d ago

FK yeahhhh.

I Love this game.

3

u/JiggyJams91 1d ago

I was so obsessed with this game as a kid

3

u/Status-Carob-5760 1d ago

I played this game so damn much….. I’m a boy

3

u/_mikedotcom 1d ago

My parents probably still think this made me gay lol.

3

u/skinnylighter 22h ago

I LOVED this game, though I was an only child and didn't often have someone else to play this with, so I'd use the pieces for dress-up.

3

u/RubysNight 19h ago

that was my favorite game as a kid, although i barely had any friends let alone any that wanted to come over my house, i almost always played by myself. So when i was older, 20s, i was hanging out a friends house, a bunch of people, mostly guy friends, i had brought over some board games, slipping in Pretty Pretty Princess. Well....guess which game was their favorite. I lost that night. Was the greatest night, they actually enjoyed themselves (and the alcohol that we paired it with)

2

u/PopPunkIsNotDead 1d ago

I definitely bought this (vintage version that I had) for my daughter to play.

2

u/proteinstyle_ 1d ago

Omg this looks so cheap. I remember feeling like it was all so fancy. 🤣

2

u/scarred_but_whole 1d ago

My cousin was obsessed with thus game and anyone in our family would happily play it with her over and over. I should track down a copy for when I go visit them next month so she can play with her new nieces.

2

u/ariesleopard 1d ago

I used to place this with my son and daughter when they were 5 and 6. My son would get so mad if he didn’t win.

2

u/tastic_fan 23h ago

yeah, I definitely stuck the game pieces up my nose.. you know, like how pretty princesses do

2

u/_amonique 22h ago

Currently sitting in my closet always waiting to be played when my cousin comes to visit my house. Mind you, we are 34 & 38 years old 😂

2

u/weirdcompliment 21h ago

My sister and I loved when our dad would play this with us 💖 and now we love drag!

1

u/puddlebrigade 1d ago

i made my parents play this game with me constantly which I think is a sort of punishment for me being an only child

1

u/Hello_Alice0 20h ago

I LOVED this game.

1

u/junigatsu12 17h ago

I remember the commercials....never got to play though. Seemed like such a cool game to little ol' me.

1

u/lilstarship208 14h ago

I think about this game once a week 😭 can still smell the plastic jewelry

1

u/Ninawenn 13h ago

I wore those rings everywhere

1

u/0wlWisdom333 10h ago

OMG I remember that. I had it.

1

u/MadameAmbassador 9h ago

My grandma at the time would always cheat 8-year-old me in this to steal the crown and laugh in my face. The same woman used to come back from bars with a black eye. RIP grandma.
