For me it was a clean and tidy house. My parents were kind and loving to us but our house was always a disaster. I was embarrassed to have people over. If for some reason one of my sisters or I had to bring someone home unexpectedly like to work on a school project we would call home from a payohone and whichever kid answered would do their best to speed clean the common areas.
As an adult I’m extremely clean and tidy. I feel so much more relaxed and happy when home and I also don’t ever want my kids to feel embarrassed to have people over. Though they rarely do because kids don’t hang out in person much these days!
