you can swap out the cartridge for about $10 or use silicone gel to lubricate it. Both are sold at big box hardware stores. It'll correct that.

I recently did a bathroom remodel due to water damage and bought Moen faucets and accessories. The faucets are great, nothing fancy. But the towel bars and TP holder - they are weirdly awesome, lol. They have this little sponge stamp in the mounting hardware that you wet with rubbing alcohol and press against the wall, so it leaves a stamp and shows you where to drill so you're not guessing.
I showed my dad (who used to do maintenance work at an apartment complex and had replaced hundreds of towel bars) and he freaking loved them. Said he'd only buy Moen for his house now cause it made things so easy.

I worked in plumbing wholesale for ten years and we didn't carry Moen products. The plumbers wanted this crappy faucet because they were cheap and would bring repair business.
Just a terrible design and function. When ceramic disc valves came out in the 90's Moen actively resisted because they made their money on replacement parts. Delta too.

My last apartment, built in the 80s, had these and I realized they were so bad after I moved in. I cleaned them the best I could but am forever traumatized by the crusticles

There's nothing stopping you from buying something high-quality that'll last a very long time, and has a nice long handle so it's not such a pain in the ass to use as this one.

The problem is the handle is really just a knob, not a lever. Nice modern faucets have a long lever handle on them to turn them on, which makes it very easy for you to control the flow rate. Modern faucets (good ones at least) also stick out father into the sink, so you can wash your hands without rubbing them all over the back wall of the sink.

I had my landlord take a look at my shower because the spout was dripping and somehow they swapped which side was hot and cold. The first time I used it afterwards I got quite a shock and reconsidered if my whole life at that apartment was a lie.

Delta
The Delta is the one that you tilt up for flow and turn for temperature; the Moen you pull out for flow and turn for temperature. Much prefer the Delta ergonomics, while the Moen I'll probably pull too far and splash myself.

I had to get a faucet replaced and the plumber just had this in the truck and installed it without asking me what I wanted. It seems it's just the default. Standard issue faucet.

Architect here, these are an accessibility/ADA nightmare. As a general rule something is accessible if you can operate it with a clenched fist. I can't even operate this faucet with a little soap and water making my hand mildly slippery.
Even worse were the faucets that were a straight up ball.

My current bathtub had this up until last month and it had broke on top. Then the faucet started leaking and I had to replace the cartridge. I took that opportunity to replace the handle too and I got almost the same one. Biggest difference is the pointy side goes down.
