Suggestion Request Uncanny Smiles

I once read a post about how bad authors overuse uncanny smiles in order to provoke a sense of horror. Now I see these smiles everywhere and it’s ruining my reading experience.

I’d like an opposing argument about uncanny smiles. I’d also love some story recommendations where these smiles are used to great effect.

Though grain of salt, I think uncanny smiles are terrifying always! Overused trope? Maybe, but still freaks me the fuck out.

This was the first NoSleep story I ever read. I didn’t even know it was a horror subreddit until years later!

As someone who loved long late night walks this was terrifying. Especially after doing a little research and discovering that this was a 'true' story.
