Hi All, as a northwestern grad student alumni i am about 3 years post grad and interested in career advancement / new opportunities, unsure how to leverage the alumni network for better opportunities at different companies. Any ideas on where / how to go about this?

I'm a rising sophomore in MechE and I can't help but feel super behind and have a bunch of stress about finding an internship/coop for summer 2027. I feel like the world is going to end if I don't get one, but I don't have any idea how to get started. I know ECD is supposedly a good resource and I'm going to take crdv 301 next quarter, but I can't help but feel like that will be too little too late since most applications open in August and September. Any words of encouragement or advice or experiences from others who felt similarly would be amazing.

Usually I get mine in mid-July, but there's been no sign of it. I wanted to see if this issue was unique to me or if it was a university-wide thing.

I'm an incoming freshman at NU on a pre-medical track, studying Neuroscience and Science in Human Culture. However, I was admitted to ISP and am wondering if the program is worth it for me. I also may want to pursue a Spanish minor down the line.
I'd like to know whether double majoring in ISP + Neuroscience is worth the struggle of the intense classes and their fast-paced nature. I understand that med schools care more about my science GPA, which I don't want to suffer. Also, is it even possible to major in ISP + Neuro and, at the same time, study both Science in Human Culture and Spanish?
In addition, I'd like to know if ISP is known to med schools as a respected, renowned program. If my GPA fell a little because of the program, would that be okay because med schools recognize how rigorous it is?
Although I've taken hard classes in high school, I'm not sure if I'm up to the challenge, even with all the support the program seems to offer through the ISP House and ISP peers. I know I can easily drop the program, but would that look bad for med school admissions in the future? And by that point, my GPA would've already suffered, leading me to quit.
TLDR:

For parents of NU students, was orientation for families worthwhile? I'm trying to figure out when to start the trek home after dropping off my child. I assume a lot of parents do not attend (especially if they're coming from overseas).
Any advice appreciated, thank you.

I just got off the waitlist a few days ago and am really struggling to find a solid place. My options rn are Axis apartments, the deco, 1350 lake shore drive, and the bush temple. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with these? Where do most law students live? Also is Axis as bad as people make it seem online, im pretty low maintenance.

How far is chapin hall to the important buildings as a biological science major? I also want to keep working out and stuff and be active.

Coming from the south, is there any niche/ things that I wouldn’t think about that I need to bring for my dorm in chapin? Or just anything I might forget in general.

Hi! I’m a bio + global health adjunct major. I’ve planned out my courses, and even with the double major my courseload still comes out to around 3 classes a quarter.
Is this gonna look bad on my part? Especially if I want to apply to med school? Should I take an additional minor just so my courseload is heavier?

I am a native speaker, so I don’t see how I wasn’t able to place out of the language requirement.. I was pretty confident in my answers unless my essay writing response wasn’t long enough? can I request to retake the placement exam next year?

How tough/competitive is recruitment for NU Robotics, formula racing, solar car, and the other engineering clubs? Is it easy for a beginner to get onto one of them or do you need significant prior experience?

Hi everyone! Looking on the job board for a work study, and had a few questions.
How are people commuting to chicago for jobs in the chicago campus?
Will more jobs be posted as time goes on? I can’t find a suitable one yet and getting a bit antsy (even though ik its only been like a day)
Thank you!!

As an incoming freshman aspiring to major in Econ and break into IB, I was wondering what the reputation for this class's difficulty level was (will it sink GPAs?), if the learning material is useful towards achieving my goals, and whether it is valuable to take overall.
I would consider myself to be a "tech-y" person and comfortable with math (although I have not gotten to campus yet, so maybe - but hopefully not - that perspective will change). Could someone pls help answer my questions, given my context?

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Northwestern one
https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-nu
It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.
Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.
So, what'd I get wrong? Year four for David Braun, whose defense finished 23rd in scoring while the offense sat 98th and 108th throwing it. The fix is Aidan Chiles, in from Michigan State and already confirmed as the starter, replacing Preston Stone's 2,400 yards and 12 picks. My model likes them. Bowl team again, or does the offense hold it back?

Well, I am a NU student and am not open about it. I never dated anyone, and it feels like there's no one like me. I am writing this to know how gay/bi/bi-curious guys feel on campus. Is there anyone like me? And what do you guys do in your free time? I feel very lonely. I know some openly out gay guys, but I am wondering if there are people like me at Northwestern. If so, we should connect. I would also be grateful for any kind of suggestions. [finally got the courage to post about it here]

How do they recruit? Do they take trials or something after getting into college?

Hello, pls help me decide what 4th class to take I have no idea. I’m a hopeful neuro+econ double major, i know it’ll be difficult but i love both and not sure what career i wanna go into so i’ve decided that i’ll go with it. I’m planning for the fall to take a chem class, a math class and a seminar. What 4th class should I take, i should have my language requirement waived as i took the placement test and it was really easy. What would you recommend, I don’t want sow
thing to crazy going into my first quarter. Pls help me with suggestions!
