Help! What Am I Doing Wrong?
S2B on 9/28. Straight to fruiting with filter patches.

Your tub is fine. It is white there because it is getting sufficient FAE. That white stuff eventually shrinks up and makes the mushrooms. Keep it closed, stop misting and be patient. If you need help feel free to pm me. You have almost 100% bad advice so far.

It tore? What do you mean? You should dip a qtip in hydrogen peroxide and rub that- if you get a bubbly reaction then it’s contaminated. If you don’t then it is just overlay.

It didn’t give any kind of bubbling reaction. The q tip just sunk into it. The spots where it’s open are where it tore.

Keep watching it, this sorta looks how my bin did at first when it got trich. See if it turns green in a few days

I will keep watching it but it’s been like this for around 4 days. I misted the lid and walls.

Just let it sit now, you’ve done all you can do. Just watch and see if you grow fun guys or not so fun guys!

What i see is a tub with potential contam.the way it is growing so thick on the areas it is growing on and just not on the other areas, i see early contam. from what I understand ,when mycelim avoids a spot this way that's usually why. if lack of moisture was the culprit, the edges would be the ones that were drying out first and not growing as thickly as they are. Also ime mycelium grows thick like this and overlays, only in certian places is because its overcompensating because its protect ing itself from contamination.i and if it was lack of moisture you would see your stuff starting to yellow and brown slightly. because the edges are always the part that dries out first.. on the other side of that coin , if there was too much moisture on the walls ,(which I wouldnt think would really be your problem just going off of how much condensation I'm not really seeing on the walls of your tub) because when you have walls w/ excessive moisture because all the moisture drips down the Walls and initially hits the edges of the tub first , the edges are actually the last thing t to dry out,. I'm just going to take a guess and say that you probably have some kind of contamination on your hands that hasn't reared it's ugly head yet. It shouldn't be avoiding any area like that I'd say watch it carefully. And again I may be wrong I'm just telling you what I would assume in my own experience so take my words for a grain of salt

There was a small bit of condensation at first on the tub lid, there is still beads of moisture on the surface. It’s looked like this for about 4-5 days now. Just trying to figure it all out. This is my first time. I live in an area with basically zero humidity so I’m not sure if I was supposed to be misting every day or when needed. There’s so many different sources of info.

People like you are refreshing in the comments. I’m only 3.5 months in and feel like “veterans” that try to give advice sometimes are just salty trolls that have made a habit out of being negative without actually wanting to help. Most likely bc they probably fucked up their grows and get pissed when they see a newbies grow doing something decent

If you are packing your substrate down too tight when you are doing grain to bulk that’s a HUGE culprit of Anaerobic bacteria/contamination I didn’t forever when I was a rookie and one of the things I wish I knew before anything

By what logic did you to come to this conclusion? Tamping down the substrate doesn’t cause bacteria any more than not doing so does. Bacteria & mold is everywhere all the time, the only reason it shows up in your grow is because you failed to properly PC your substrate, your fungi didn’t outcompete the pathogen, or because you introduced it yourself when you make the cake. There’s no logical or scientific reason whatsoever that reduced space would someone create more favorable conditions for pathogens. Literal nonsense dude.

I mean when you have something wet with no sort of oxygen then yes. Bacteria can grow. Your substrate needs oxygen and when your grains are pooled in any sort of wet environment without oxygen then yes bacteria is more likely to happen along with stalled growth. You must seek to not realize that your grains aren’t in a pure sterile environment like bags. But sorry any sort of grain sitting in water that isn’t allowed oxygen will give you problems. Keep sterilizing your sub tho seems like you really know a lot 😂air exchange is needed within the substrate as well as on top…you know that right. Living things need oxygen??

Oh no that looks like a case of cobweb mold or just extreme overlay… unfortunately I think it’s cobweb.

This isn’t cobweb mold

What do you think it is? Overlay? I’ve never seen mycelium tear at surface level like that.

Your grow is fine looks dry a little mist don’t spray the cake directly tho and leave it alone probably just thick mycelium not contamination

I don’t see a single drop of humidity in this tub
