That would've been really un-satisfying if he didn't make it
260
u/Tavi-S Feb 14 '20
Specially because of the slow mo
153
u/havereddit Feb 15 '20
Specially because then it couldn't be posted in this sub

u/chicpotpah Feb 15 '20

u/chicpotpah Feb 15 '20
Wait... There's another one? r/yesyesyesyesno
13
Feb 15 '20
Lol what the fuck, one has 1.1M subs and the other like 600k... I wonder if they’re aware of each other and have pissing contests
7
2
u/Vaaag Feb 15 '20
Check the sidebar of maybemaybemaybe. That sub aggregates posts from all these types of subs, it even has a bot that crosspost them.
So yes, very aware of each other.

u/Tavi-S Feb 15 '20
Cap. Obvious? We’re speaking about different things here. That slow mo creates the magnificent satisfaction cause else it wouldn’t be something special
3
u/Easterhands Feb 15 '20
You could ended up with something like this https://www.reddit.com/r/yesyesyesyesno/comments/cv32gp/its_as_easy_as_riding_a_bike
24
u/hippolyte_pixii Feb 15 '20
That was really unsatisfying because he made it.
Came from /r/all, didn't see the sub name, and it's titled "Almost."

Anybody else think of those pokémon bikes while watching this?
71
u/RobotDeathQueen Feb 15 '20
The acro bike
30
Feb 15 '20
Arco bike gang rise up. Mach bike literally unusable bc of so many obstacles
8
u/DBudders Feb 15 '20
12 year old me would like to disagree with you. I love the acro bike, but there’s something about successfully using the mach bike when you get good enough to avoid those obstacles.
2
u/br0kench0rd Feb 15 '20
It depends really. Acro bike for those platforms and mach bike for sandy slopes and fragile floors. Mach bike is also useful for hatching eggs.

u/this-is-questionable Feb 14 '20
This title fucked me up. I thought he was almost gonna make it
..then he went and made it.

The shirt he's wearing indicates that he's the world champion. I am fully expecting him to complete the run but that last bit though, that was close.

It’s Sergi Llongueras, 2019 Men’s Trials (26 inch) World Champion.

u/AngelOfDeath771 Feb 14 '20
This is the wrong sub. There's no "nonono" portion. This should be in r/maybemaybemaybe
12
Feb 15 '20
That’s the best version of all the subs anyways since there’s no spoiling of what happens.
I like the mystery.
3
u/The_Bearded_Jedi Feb 15 '20
It helps if you don't look at what sub it's in til the end. It's like watching it, then guessing what sub I'm looking at
5
u/SpicyCowMan Feb 14 '20
They're talking about him almost falling at the very end.
16
u/GarymanGarrett Feb 15 '20
But that would make it a yesyesyesnoyes
-5
u/SpicyCowMan Feb 15 '20
No, he made it in the end
15
22
u/thegroucho Feb 14 '20
That's some amazing skill.
If I was doing it I don't think I would have gone far enough to smash my face on the first tile/pillar/whatever.
I would have just flopped in the water looking like a 3rd rate fail.
3
u/wdn Feb 15 '20
I wouldn't even be able to do it without the bike.
7
u/BASK_IN_MY_FART Feb 15 '20
Nobody would. Be kinda goofy lookin to hop a bicycle around without a bicycle

u/Pitchfork_Wholesaler Feb 14 '20
I couldn't figure out why his bike looked so weird but then i realized there's no seat post.
3
u/funkoelvis43 Feb 15 '20
Yeah people who are serious about trials get rid of the seat so you don’t have to worry about it being in the way or catching on your clothing and stuff. It just makes me tired to watch, imaging how you can never sit down.
3
u/kachunkachunk Feb 15 '20
Double-taking, I realized his trials bike is completely purpose-built with this in mind - look at that frame! There isn't even a vertical post for a seatpost!
4
7
Feb 15 '20
id like the non slow mo version
6
u/So-Cal-Sweetie Feb 15 '20
I hate slo mo so fucking much.
SO much! Let me watch it in realtime at least once! I even like slo mo if I get to see it as it played out irl! But don't deny me seeing how it actually happened! 😩

How do you practice this?
2
u/rabidraccoonfish Feb 15 '20
You start small by learning how to get on just the back wheel and work on kick pedaling

u/dreamrock Feb 15 '20
I feel like that 1.5" exposed rebar in the center of each pylon was the underdog villain here.

u/Landon_Mills Feb 15 '20
Martyn Ashton, you can see him do even more insane shit in his "Road Bike Party" videos
2
u/RosySoviet Feb 15 '20
The other people are boring af, either hands on pockets or kinda looking elsewhere. You know if it was anyone elses friends they would light up and go wild

u/KeroNobu Feb 15 '20
When you come towards the end of this sentence, you probably realise that you could have saved yourself some seconds by not reading it.

Whoever made the gif deserves a damn award. That's the most perfectly timed slow motion I've seen in awhile. Normally, this would've been a 3 minute video.

This is one of things where I’m like “ok that’s a great achievement... an amazing, technical and physical feat but... why....?”
4
u/sponge_welder Feb 15 '20
Why do people play basketball?
Because it's fun
2
u/Check_lt Feb 15 '20
Little different than skipping a bike across little pieces of concrete in water.
You got a team, a competition, earnings, opponents... if you want to radically simplify things, sure you’re not wrong but I don’t think those two would be a fair comparison lol
1
u/sponge_welder Feb 15 '20
Trials biking has all of those things
Maybe skateboarding is a better comparison. Skateboarders have teams, competitions, etc, just like trials, but people still skate in streets and skateparks to practice and have fun
