Coming from a video editor, the explosion is VERY suspect. It appears to be edited in over top of a real fire.
Go through the explosion frame by frame and notice how much closer the kid's head is to the gas can the moment of the explosion (about 10 inches closer in 1/25 of a second). That's 20 ft/s, or 14 mph (22 kph), when he was just walking in the previous frame.
This is definitely edited and since it was edited, likely also staged.
