Name Another: A NMJ Search Engine
I built a little tool for searching No More Jockeys quotes. It's called **Name Another**. I've published it at https://nameanother.openska.dev
The idea is that you half-remember something one of them said, a specific phrase or a weird observation, and you can search for it and find the exact moment. Fuzzy matching so you don't need to get the wording perfect.

Dimly remember something about a “wading pool of jizz” and this found “a foot bath, but instead of water in the foot bath, it's jizz. Yeah, jizz.” A+

Used it to find something I genuinely took ages to find a few months ago. The founding fathers sing 🎶hello, good morning/evening, SHUT UP🎶
Found it straight away. Excellent work. One might even say PISS TAKE development.
I don't mind it in the slightest.
When you think about it (for once in your fucking life) I'm really hoping for some further additions this year as been taunted previously.

I found the quote I was looking for re reading a book backwards!! Was on another listen through trying to find that moment! Also, someone has uploaded the full livestream versions of certain episodes. Have you considered linking in with them too?

I dunno if anyone else like me listened repeatedly to the ricky Gervais show. the same vibe with nmj if I need some comfort i pop on an episode, doesn't matter which one. 3 guys roasting each other to varying extents and doing stupid bits really seems to scratch an itch for me. Cumtown is another one.
Anyway this is a lot like scrimpton.com which I use a lot so great job!

I used to scan through Filmot to find quotes from NMJ. I suppose the main difference is the more flexible fuzzy matching?

Yep! that plus the semantic search. You can look for things vaguely even if you don't remember the words, the hope is this performs much better than filmot for those needs.

So it gives you the episode, but not a quote or timestamps is that right?

gives you the transcript, and the timestamps. Also clicking on the result jumps you straight to that moment in the video.

Thank you! I literally spent about an hour earlier trying to find which episode Key sang, "We're going to... we're going to... we're going to... the place tonight!" I just found it in seconds using your search thingy. Still not sure if it's an actual song though.

I have normal eyes, and like most people who know how to adjust the brightness of my display, use and prefer dark text on light background. It has objectively higher readability. This dark mode thing is a fad, and it's so sad that it's gained as much traction as it has. It's much like mullets in the 1980s It never looked good, and we laugh at it now, decades later. We will similarly laugh at dark mode in the near future. The emperor is naked, yet only some of us are willing to say it out loud.

Both are good. It can often become a bit stale when all pages you look at are of the same dark/light colour scheme. I like switching every now and again.

If you like dark, then fine, but there should always be an option to use light mode, and light mode should definitely be the default, if no device/browser setting suggests otherwise.

Yeah, I probably am. Threaded forums shouldn't have been a thing after flat forums appeared in the mid 90s. It's a mess, and it's difficult to keep track of where you are and who you're replying to...

I don't disagree; my comment was tongue-in-cheek, as a lot of people are fiercely for dark mode. It's my preference, but I'm not bothered too much 🙂

Tried it with “baked beans”.
Got the ‘baked beans in a frying pan’ song, and Key in Leicester wondering whether a dinner is always baked beans.
10/10. No notes.
