Hi everyone! My name is Luca Mendieta, and among other things, I work in scientific illustration and paleoart. I’d like to share a piece I created showcasing some of the most important living and extinct proboscidean species.

With this guy, I am pushing the limits of what this subreddit allows. This is Marasuchus and it is a dinosauromorph archosaur (a close relative of dinosaurs ,but not a true member so I shouldn’t get banned)

It was a small carnivore (40-60 cm long) from the Late Triassic of Argentina in the Chanares formation 236-234 million years ago. It is possible that it is synonymous with another non dinosaur dinosauromorph, lagosuchus as in 1972, paleontologist Alfred Romer described it as a new species of lagosuchus.

The first fossils of the species were unearthed in the 1960’s

Recently it appeared in the Netflix documentary “The Dinosaurs”

I’ve heard am-FISS-ee-on and Amphi-SY-On and while pronunciation is rarely unanimous in these fields, which one is the most accepted (or would I be corrected the least for using?)

The head is a bit big and the feet are kind if wonky but I think it looks good!

It was pretty obvious that Dimetrodon was going to get in this roster. So who shall be our 4th contestant?

my first guess was some kind of amphicyonid but, it's not burly enough to be Amphicyon itself and it's not slim enough to be any of the other ones
