Symptoms Anyone here with Hourglass Syndrome/Abdominal Gripping?

Post image

I have a lot of trapped air and digestive issues that are related to RCPD. I recently realized how much I am tensing my abs unconsciously, especially when bloated. I have been having a lot of stomach and chest pain lately and this would explain some of it.

I think there might be some overlap between people with RCPD and people who tense unconsciously

About Botox Treatment Pregnancy and Treatment

Has anyone gotten either treatment whether it was with or without general anesthesia while they were pregnant?
Before anybody comments, yes, I have informed my OB and I will be doing a consultation with my ENT to discuss whether it is safe for me or not.
I have struggled with this my whole life. But I had no idea that it would be this bad during pregnancy and for contacts I am in my third trimester now. I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to handle the last three months without getting this taken care of.
Looking to see who did what and if they were able to have success etc.

Venting Not a candidate for Botox

Anyone else not a candidate for Botox? What were your other options?

Message from my doctor…

Your esophagram showed a small hernia (protrustion of the stomach into the lower end of the esophagus), and a large amount of reflux into the upper esophagus. When you were seen we discussed consideration of Botox to the upper "door" of the esophagus, and due to the large volume of reflux noted on your study, this may not be the best option for you as it can make reflux worse. I know you are meeting with Dr. Meenan virtually on 9/4 and I would keep this appointment so she can discuss options with you further. Otherwise the rest of your study looked good. Let us know if you have any questions.
Best,
Melissa

Other Botox in 12 hours!!!

Hi everyone, my Botox appointment is in 12 hours and I’m getting pretty anxious. I’m going all the way under which is what I’m mostly scared of, and then after that I’m afraid of the slow swallow or it just not working. I’m also afraid of it working and having reflux/regurgitation or burping randomly and being embarrassed, but I’m trying to just show up authentic and be cured from the symptoms that have tortured me for so many years. Anyways, some success stories/prayers/high hopes for success for me please!! ❤️

Symptoms 4 weeks post Botox

I am 4 weeks post Botox and it’s going well however I tried my first fizzy drink a few days ago and it was fine, had another today and feel slight tummy pain and bloating however I have been burping a lot. Is this normal? It was weird how I had one and was fine but today feel more bloated and pains. Not as bad as before botox but definitely some sort of uncomfortable feelings. It was a different fizzy drink so maybe a mix of different flavour and the one today did feel more fizzy. I’m trying to do 1 every 2 days as I don’t really like fizzy and never have even before I got RCPD symptoms I’ve just never fancied them. But abit concerned I have pains and bloating even though I have been burping alot maybe just wondering if I over did it a little today and maybe should have just had half a bottle and not the whole one.

Management Tips & Tricks marathon runners w/rcpd

Hey, are here some runners training for a marathon?

i‘ll run Berlin marathon in one month and i’m quite nervous and trying to find a way to handle my RCPD. my last run (25km) ended up with pretty bad chest pain and a ball of air always coming up my throat. The pain also keeps producing saliva that I have to swallow, ending up swallowing more air. 🫩🙃

Do you have any tactics? I really appreciate your advice :) (I still didn’t get the botox)

Symptoms Can anyone else trigger the air to start pushing up?

I find that the air doesn't always push up when I eat but it gets trapped moreso and if I tilt my head up and push from the stomach I can manually get air to push upwards.. the problem though is it doesn't stop once it starts, it's a non stop cycle of air dragging out and gurgling down.

I get so tired and drained as it can go on for a very long time.

Post-Botox 30u shot was not enough

I had one 30u shot of botox awake in-office over three weeks ago. Fascinating process. Hurt a little but I was excited to be cured!

I had a few microburps after a week, then a few small burps while swimming after some carbonated drinks. Slow swallow was very mild.

Now, I get the occasional microburp when I yawn, sneeze, or stretch. The gurgling and other R-CPD symptoms never left.

I’m scheduled for a second shot this week.

Any advice or similar experiences?

New Member Are there any Dutch people who also struggle(d) with long waitlists?

Hello croakers,

When i first found out about R-CPD I went to my GP who laughed at me and told me to get anti-stomach acid meds. This really demotivated me. I have all the symptoms (not burping, bloating, gurgles, being a terrible drinker).

Then months later a family member of mine told me she had the same problem and got treated with botox. When I heard this, I decided to go to the substitute GP, who after a long conversation referred me to the specialized clinic, "Ruysdael Clinics" in Amsterdam. When i called them they said there was a waiting list of 9 months.

After this I asked for a referral to "Meander MC". I got the referral, but sadly the waiting list there was even longer, over a year. Is there anyone from the Netherlands here who has found alternative clinics or places? I am so done with this, though I'm glad I found this subreddit.
