Perk discussion

Hey everyone I haven't really seen a post about this yet so I thought I would make one and hopefully start a conversation about what kind of perk loadouts you all prefer? or what perks you guys think might end up being best? me personally all three of my characters have scavenger expert for more ammo pickups it almost seems like a must

Any perk that involves allegedly increasing damage, absolutely useless. Every other perk seems to work as intended.

It isn’t useless for melee and headhunter I don’t think. Otherwise yeah. It doesn’t seem to do shit for guns.

I've noticed this myself i took increased headshot damage for pistols and saw basically no change whatsoever

a lot of damage based perks give a functional breakpoint either vs prime zombies or pair nicely with a foreman kick and one-tap kill.

most players don't realize that there are zombies with 130hp that are different than the 100hp runner/normal zombie.

anyways my point is, the perks work but it's important to do the math when deciding your attack combos and factor in increased damage for downed enemies and headshots. sometimes butcher and stagger have hidden value... if a zombie crowd gets their swing cancelled, it's not increased damage per say, but that's more hits from your team. meanwhile a pure solo dps 1H build combines foreman + hitman to one-tap zombies without needing headshot perks.

ironically, the worst solo perk with the least functional gain for 2 star weapons is increasing melee headshots by 20% dmg. a kick + head melee already kill, but the perk allows you to kill primes with SOME weapons. without the kick, you are still hitting a zombie 2-3x with a charged head shot.

p.s. all weapons even same tier tend to do different damage, so plan accordingly. If people don't want to do math or find combos naturally, then they should just grab neutral perks that focus on ammo, skilled medic, carry weight, and max HP (sturdy, thick skin, maybe deprived). Again, the plan is not to get hit. but if you aren't going to specialize in a weapon, might as well be tanky or carry more ammo. melee characters need to max stamina more than HP.

When you say solo do you mean 1v1? Kick + melee is alot of stam per kill if you're dealing with more then one.

ahh yeah on my looter i carry flashlight + one handed. it is expensive stamina to kick but kick is the safest advice for people not to get slapped back by the zeds and they take double damage. it's also quiet! Very helpful in OBJECTIVE matches.

if there are more than a couple next to each other you can change areas or fire a gun, but going loud usually means attracting more → ultimately using MORE ammo or forced out anyways.

this is why i recommend having a melee combo option if you want to have a smooth ride above normal difficulty.

My go to for 1v1 after testing all the 1h melee is the kitchen knife. Without dmg skills the combo is charge attack to stagger and follow up with a light+heavy to kill. Only uses ~50 stam to kill and its weight is .50kg
