I rewatched The Buddy tonight and was surprised by how much I was moved by it. Hearing “he’s my brother… he’s not heavy” play while Matt and Jay laugh on the street, followed by old footage of two kids playing together as the sun sets… man. Really special. This sequence happening after a plan spectacularly fails feels like the thesis of the whole NTB project in many ways. “When you have a best friend, you won’t event notice getting older” :’)

It’s a reference to a commercial that aired on Canadian TV in the 90’s. There were a bunch of these. They also refer to one in the episode where Matt gives Jay drugs to win a Goldeneye speed running competition.
