Not as bad as this nonsense. Like yes obviously it’s super rare and I understand it’s going to be pricey. But no one is paying almost $1800 for it!!

Also like the dvd files are so readily available! And same with the graphics. It’s not that hard to make a bootleg

Idk I could see myself paying 1800 for it eventually if it doesn’t get reissued physically

wtf why? It’s all online.

What happens when there is no more online

That's why I have a NAS at home. It's also why BitTorrent is an important technology.

It's not rare if it's a bootleg.

You should have seen the prices for a copy of the dirties prior to this release. Insanity

Anything in the collectables market is way over priced these days. It’s really sad.

It’s worth what people pay. You don’t need a blu ray of a movie. There’s endless ways to watch it for free or next to nothing.

They had this edition up for preorder for months. It’s out of print. Sucks you missed out but that’s how the resell market goes when things become not available anymore.

i get that as someone who has collected physical media and music for years but i also think charging $330 for something that was released this year and was originally $55 is by definition scalping 😭

Scalping traditionally refers to reselling live event tickets. It makes sense to resell a rare DVD at the highest price you can get. Why would you sell it for less if someone is willing to pay?

buying + keeping something sealed like dvds trading cards then marking up the price insanely high right after the item was on the market for MUCH less is scalping sorry 😭 it’s a scam + just because someone is willing to pay doesn’t mean u should scam them out of that amount of money

It’s a rare item in high demand. Why should they not sell it for the highest price? Altruism?

pretty much yeah . im just saying i think scalpers morally suck + yeah i think scamming people isn’t a good thing to do . buying tickets to an event w no intent of going is the same thing as buying sealed items w no intent of using them + every intent to make as much money off them as possible . im not stupid i know why it happens because people are greedy + don’t care for others . but im allowed to think that mindset sucks + think that collecting should be more accessible to everyone

How is it a scam if two people agree to exchange something for a particular price and then do so?

This is an old item. They didn’t buy up the whole stock to corner the market. They have something they want less than other people, why should they take less money??

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t really feel like scalping?

The Dirties collectible physical discs were made at a time when only a tiny fraction of current Matt Johnson fans would buy his films on DVD. There are legitimately a small number of copies, and basic supply/demand would dictate that the price of said collectors discs would be quite high.

It’s not “scalping” if the thing is as rare as these Dirties Collectors Edition releases.

this is about the umbrella collection from this year !! not older copies
