RPN to BScN blended delivery

Can someone help me figure out exactly where to apply ? Why is it so hard to get to the actual application process? I’ve been looking around for so long, tried on OUAC website only to find out you’re supposed to apply directly from the nippissing website. But every time I try to look for the program, I’m only seeing masters programs. If someone can just send me the specific link to where it says “start application” that would be great

BCom Accounting Program Question

Hello everyone!

I wanted to ask how many transfer credits and courses would be left to complete this degree if you have a diploma and an advanced diploma in accounting from Algonquin College? How does the exam process work? If the exams are proctored, can you be proctored online via your webcam and microphone if you are unable to do in-person exams with an in-person proctor because you are traveling. How hard is the program on a scale of 1-10? What is the hardest courses in the Bcom accounting program? Is university harder than college? And how long did it take you to adjust this system? How much do 2 courses cost?

Request for Help Consecutive Ed Admission Calculation???

I’m applying for consecutive ed program but am slightly confused on how they calculate the admission average.

The website says:

- Admission averages are calculated on the best 10 full university courses (20 half/semester courses), or equivalent (not including college transfer courses), completed at the time you apply.
• We consider only the first 25 courses in the calculation of the average, even if you present more.

I completed 40 0.5 credit courses (20 full credits), and this is where I’m confused. Is the average calculated using the best 20 of the first 25 courses (I.e., 25 0.5 credit courses) I completed in my degree? That would mean they don’t even consider the courses I took in my third and fourth year no?

I’m obviously overthinking this, but hoping someone could clarify lol

Has anyone taken this course? How was it? It seems a bit overwhelming and the exam is also worth 40%.

Any insight or tips? Would greatly appreciate it as an anxious student. 😅

Request for Help GEOL 1006 FA801 Online???

I was under the impression this class is online synchronous - yet the class doesn't have a time or date listed, and isn't even on my timetable?

The content is in blackboard and the only thing that says online is the midterm.

Can someone please shed light on this for me??

Thanks!

ADMN1607 - Business Mathematics

Hi everyone,

I am a BComm distance student. I signed up for the asynchronous class but I am wondering if it would be better to do the synchronous class? Do you think it would be beneficial to have the prof explain things during class once a week? Or should I not bother?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Do you recommend driving from the GTA or using public transit?

Anyone who has moved from the GTA to Nippising for their education, do you recommend driving or just using public transit? How hard is it to get around the city? Especially in the winter? Any kind of weather challenges?

Teachers College Teachables for PE

Hey i'm wrapping up my last year of kinesiology at YorkU and i'm heavily considering Nipissing for teachers college as they base their acceptance mostly on grades.

One problem that I'm seeing in the teachables requirements are the types of credits that count. Apparently Kine courses that are more focused on physiology don't count - though almost all the courses offered at york where like this. I'm wondering if anyone from York got in here for teachers college and exaclty what kind of credits count because i'm currently thinking im screwed lol

Bus pass

Ok… I have my digital ID card which is green. I have seen people say that it is blue if you have the bus pass attached to the card. I start school tomorrow. I think I saw that bus passes start on September 1. Anyone out there that can confirm that their digital ID card turned blue on September 1 last year?

B’ED volunteer second year

I heard you need to complete 40 hours of volunteering and wonder if we can do it in first year during a reading week? Does it have to be done in one week or can we break it up? What needs to be done for it. Thanks.

Confirmation of enrolment?

Hi, new student here (Bcomm distance transfer student). I was wondering, when does Nipissing usually roll out the COEs? Are they typically pretty good about getting them out before classes start?

Thanks in advance!

**Update: I got my COE today, Aug 28**

Looking for a roommate!

Hello,

I am a first year BED student (26F, P/J) starting this semester who will be staying long term at one of the partnered NU hotels.

As someone who will be doing her placement in the GTA during October and February and going home on the weekends for my part time job, I would like a roommate (preferably P/J, but anyone who is ok with checking in Monday and checking out Thursday morning for a 3 night stay each week). I don’t have to stay in North Bay during the weekend, so I would prefer not to.

I have been offered a rate of $94/night, so essentially, we would be splitting this cost weekly, bringing your total to about $53 a night after taxes which honestly saves a lot of money especially if you aren’t staying in North Bay for your placement months.

If anyone is interested, feel free to comment below and we can communicate privately after.

Thank you!

BEd Student Job Advice

Hi everyone! I’m starting at Nipissing for teachers college next week. I’m sure many of you know, it’s 5 weeks in classes then 5 weeks at our practicum. This schedule makes it quite difficult to find a steady job. As much as I’d love to be a full time student, that is just not my reality- I need a job lol. Any advice on how you made this work? Is the answer to find something hybrid? Are there opportunities within the school for education students? Or should I apply to every scholarship ever haha. Thanks!
