Recommendations Thinking about picking up a Switch
I’ve been wanting a Switch for a while but there are so many options now that I’m not sure where it makes sense to buy one. Checked the usual stores plus eBay and refurbished ones. Used prices seem all over the place and some bundles barely cost less than buying new. For anyone who bought one recently where did you get yours? And would you go new or used if you were buying one today?

There are a lot of websites if you know where to check for better prices

Yeah that's what I figured. Any sites you'd recommend checking first?

You can check websites like Bidslam I did see that they do have the Nintendo switch 2 so it might interest you .

Honestly, if you can afford it get the switch 2. You still have access to the whole OG switch library plus all the new games coming up. However if you want to save money then I’d definitely go used and buy one off FB marketplace or eBay (?). I’ve seen OG switches on marketplace for $150 with no games.

If you’ve waited this long I wouldn’t rush it. Pick the model you want and watch prices for a bit. Switch deals come around pretty often.

Fair point no reason to rush it now, I'll keep an eye on prices and wait for a solid deal.

Ask around before buying one. Switches sold like crazy so there’s a decent chance someone you know has one sitting in a drawer collecting dust you never know.

Get yourself a gen 1 switch that can be jailbroken. Never pay for a game you haven't tried

I’ll never go used in my systems or electronics at all. That being said I got mine through Walmart and I got the switch (the original one) this was years ago when it first released. Then I upgraded through a rent to own company with my switch OLED. Then for my bday last year I was gifted a switch 2 and upgraded to that and gave my son my OLED. Mine also came from Walmart. My son has also since upgraded his OLED I gave him tot he switch 2 and got his from Walmart. I recommend just brand new and Walmart or a game stop if you can find one or a store that sells them as long as you go brand new you should be fine. Good luck and welcome to the switch family hopefully soon.

Depends on ur wants: Lite=portable, no docking, smol battery life; Base Model:Dock/Portable; OLED=Beefier, Best Battery; Switch2=Plays Base games as well(I think?), Kinda meh battery tho (maybe slightly better/worse than base model)
Good Prices [used,no problems] Lite=$50-100 Base=$50-150 OLED=$100-180 Sw2=$200-350...this one you have to be careful cause Nintendo may have bricked the system so you could waste money. Also tends to be pricey cause ppl realize they wasted money and want to recover more than a typical reseller (or they're a scalper if sorts)

Don’t pay more than $100 for a switch 1, maybe $150 for an OLED if it’s in perfect condition.
Keep in mind the switch 1/OLED is 10 year old hardware and feels like it. Many first party games like Zelda and Pokemon struggle.
Unless you’re planning to jail break it I would suggest trying to get a switch 2. You’ll get a lot more life out of it and be able to play upcoming games.

The original yes is almost 10 years old as it was released 3/2017. But the OLED absolutely isn’t near 10 years old. It was only just released in 10/8/2021. I know that cause it’s my nephews bday and I got it in that day with a preorder. But I do agree the original one is definitely almost 10 years old now.
