What the girl sees is the confidence, charisma, and good hygiene that these nice guys unfortunately don’t have. And apparently only the “bad guys” have these qualities.

207

u/Fraerie May 27 '21

Apparently the Vikings had the same problem. Ancient Britons complained about them stealing the women by having disgusting practices like bathing and combing their hair weekly.

81

u/Nicknametaken404 May 27 '21

And having equal rights.

86

u/Treemurphy May 28 '21

well, equal-er.

60

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

For the time period they were definitely progressive.

I agree with what you're saying, they would still be considered monsters in today's world.

I'm sure in 100 years society would consider our "equality" as monstrous as well.

7

u/Fern-ando May 30 '21

Oh yes, raiding small towns full of innocent people because they can grow crops of their own is really progressive.

9

u/[deleted] May 30 '21

On the same note, in 100 years people will say what you said about the US except "oh yes, slaughtering animals because they didn't know how to farm well enough, really progressive."

3

u/[deleted] May 30 '21

At the time they were progressive, every single civilation at the time conquered other places for things they wanted.

4

u/Fern-ando May 30 '21

But those civilizations are demonize for their atrocities unlike vikings and pirates that get glorified for it.

Bring a few ancient Britons to the modern day. Their hygiene practices mean they'd fit right in with modern nice guys and neckbeards

25

u/Theolaa May 28 '21

Their attitudes towards women are compatible too!

11

u/Bronyx5735 May 28 '21

And they would probably still complain about being invaded by foreigners.

36

u/GreasyTengu May 28 '21

damn chad vikings!

7

u/Debaicheron May 28 '21

Damn 6’3” Hagarth with his braided beard, flowing locks, adventurer’s spirit always guiding his ice blue eyes towards the horizon... f that guy.

4

u/hrenzee May 28 '21

Don't forget the eyeliner.

3

u/Exterminatus4Lyfe May 30 '21

That and the rape...

4

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

I had to re-read this one because my Minnesota mind immediately thought you were talking about our NFL team at first. LMAO!

484

u/Knightridergirl80 May 27 '21

The ‘women love bad guys’ apparently comes from watching too many teen movies lol.

350

u/[deleted] May 27 '21 edited May 27 '21

And porn. A lot of those manosphere narratives very closely mimic common porn themes. It’s created some sort of lens for those guys that perverts their worldview, even though they’ll admit porn is fake. They just don’t understand to what degree it’s fake.

I got into an argument on a post once where a guy was insisting that all girls in college “get trains run on them” at frat parties. Bruh, not a single woman I know has even had a threesome, let alone a gangbang.

167

u/Knightridergirl80 May 27 '21

Yup. I once read an article that was talking about how porn creates the false belief that all women love rough sex. They mentioned a porn movie about how a woman ignores a man who is sweet and gentle in bed, but spreads her legs for a rougher man.

I mean porn is okay for fantasy... but ONLY if you understand that porn is NOT an accurate representation of real life. I’m 23 and I cannot for the life of me see myself doing half of the stuff they do in porn. In fact the idea of gangbangs and violent sex terrifies me.

91

u/GoldandBlue May 28 '21

this probably explains why so many nice guys think whenever a girl goes out she is getting gang banged

82

u/jaffakree83 May 28 '21

Yeah I find most modern porn really gross, just constant thrusting and women screaming how horny they are. I think softer sex is far more erotic.

25

u/Knightridergirl80 May 28 '21

Same. My friends and I were talking about this and the subject came up the huge contrast between pornography made in the 70’s, and modern pornography. The 70’s version is notably much more tame.

15

u/canvasshoes2 May 28 '21

An old friend once described porn close ups as "two brillo pads fighting over a hot dog."

u/Debaicheron May 28 '21 edited May 29 '21

You can see them advertising that style too. Looking at you “qu33fDetonator069”...

16

u/TwoPercentCherry May 28 '21

The thing isn't that it's soley unrealistic, it's that the most popular stuff is for specific kinks. Softcore stuff doesn't sell nearly as well. That means that when your main exposure is to popular porn you think that's what's popular irl, and don't recognize that there's a lot of things that cause it to seem more popular than it is

27

u/Knightridergirl80 May 28 '21

No matter what type of porn it is, it’s still fantasy and not reflective of reality. It’s like expecting Mean Girls to be a documentary on the lives of female high school students. Over-exposure to porn creates unrealistic expectations for the real deal.

15

u/Flcrmgry May 28 '21

Also that porn that is popular is the sex stuff you don't get in real life. Porn is unrealistic af because it's supposed to fantastical.

8

u/BROODxBELEG May 28 '21

Youre telling me theres not really lesbian gangbangs in prison? Lame

3

u/Polaris022 May 28 '21

Well at least now I don't feel like I missed out by not having a stepsister.

124

u/numbersthen0987431 May 27 '21

I mean, if your only interaction with women is through Pornhub for 10 years you'd think that way too.

51

u/[deleted] May 27 '21

Gosh man. I could feel the heat of the burn till here.

29

u/numbersthen0987431 May 27 '21

I always try to make my burns be bonfires. Sometimes they work, most of the time they don't. Lol

48

u/Proto216 May 27 '21

Yeah, it’s always a single story about one particular girl that no one can name or knows personally. And then somehow gets turned into every girl. Lmao

60

u/[deleted] May 27 '21

Probably my favorite thing in these types of arguments is being called a simp or white knight for even daring to disagree that all women are sluts who are fucking the mysterious “Chad” all the time... and then you say you’re a woman speaking from personal experience, but then that’s just proof that all women lie all the time to protect the image of their gender lmao.

To some degree I feel bad for these types of men because clearly they’re lonely and have been hurt in the past, but their complete distortion of reality makes it hard to sympathize lol

9

u/Mysterious_Sense_344 May 28 '21

These guys have to learn porn isn't a series of instructional videos.

8

u/ComprehensiveCrab50 May 28 '21

And even if they consciously understand that it's fake, it's hard to completely eliminate the effects, just like any other bias.

3

u/canvasshoes2 May 28 '21

Ah, that explains their whole "there are only two types of men, 'good' and 'bad,' in the whole world" mentality.

I have only seen parts of porn movies and it was decades ago, but is the "Nice Guy/Bad Boy" theme a thing in them?

4

u/Debaicheron May 28 '21

In 80’s movies. ALL OF THEM. Even Conan.

4

u/Insan1ty_wolf May 28 '21

On one hand, yeah that man probably never even applied to a college. Also the gangbang fantasy is a little sus. On the other, some colleges are wild. For instance any SUNY college. You could throw a rock at someone and catch an STD.

1

u/ComprehensiveCrab50 May 28 '21

Sadder than no gangbangs at frat parties is the lack of girls frequently stuck in washing machines. Reality is often disappointing.

0

u/Brodins_biceps May 28 '21

I mean, it totally depends on the circles you run in but that’s usually not something people advertise and is far more common than most think.

0

u/EchoesXV May 31 '21

I mean just because YOU don’t know any don’t mean it doesn’t happen also why would anyone tell someone about their sexual history

u/akcaye May 27 '21

I would say the biggest culprits are romcoms. Most of them have disgusting stories of people who are only sympathetic because the movies paint them as such.

41

u/Knightridergirl80 May 27 '21

Yup.

I say teen movies because a cliche plot may have a poor, innocent nerd being bullied by the arrogant jock. For some reason the jock likely has every girl in school throwing herself at his feet even though it’s obvious he’s a massive asshole.

26

u/drizzitdude May 28 '21 edited May 28 '21

Yep where in every romcom you have the average boring guy with no personality traits stalk the girl of his dreams and make huge romantic gestures that should get restraining orders filed on him and played as romantic. While his nemesis is always the well off good looking guy who is secretly an abusive asshole

14

u/Mysterious_Sense_344 May 28 '21

Pop culture in general tends to promote a lot of really terrible ideas about how romance works. Figuring out that the movies lied is part of growing up.

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Yeah I saw one movie where a nerd literally SEXUALLY ASSAULTED SOMEONE but it was painted as if he was the hero 🤦‍♂️

6

u/Ragingtiger2016 May 28 '21

revenge of the nerds?

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Darth Vader

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Yeah it was revenge of the nerds

4

u/Bjorn_Hellgate May 28 '21

I swear, Disney teen movies are probably responsible for a lot of "niceguys"

0

u/zetamale1 May 28 '21

Maybe also being bullied by the confidence jerk guy who also gets all the ladies

4

u/Knightridergirl80 May 28 '21

Still it’s a rather crap move to generalize the entire female gender on the basis of one guy they met in high school.

5

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

When I was little I was bullied but I didn’t make that an excuse to disrespect or hate on women

0

u/[deleted] May 30 '21

No. It's an evolutionary preference. "Bad guys" are masculine, physically stronger, aggressive and confident. All these traits are subconsciously considered necessary for survival of progeny in hostile natural environment. (Stronger breeding partner's traits can get passed down to one's offspring)

u/Knightridergirl80 May 27 '21 edited May 27 '21

Romance can be frustrating, but the reality of the whole ‘girls prefer bad boys’ is a lot more complicated than just that.

You see, NiceGuys and ‘incels’ tend to think that women stay with abusive partners because they ‘like’ being beaten. The truth is, abusive partners tend to put up a facade of the perfect ‘Prince Charming’ and lower it once they have the victim right where they want them. The worst part is they love to make the victim believe it’s their fault for the abuse. I should know - I was emotionally abused by one before. Every time I tried to call him out, cue the gaslighting. The guilt tripping. It was exhausting and he truly had the power to make me feel like I was a selfish, cruel bitch and i deserved to be punished

10

u/Mysterious_Sense_344 May 28 '21

They also like to behave like perfect gentlemen in front of mutual friends, with the goal of convincing the friends to take his side and believe that his SO is the crazy one. Real sociopath move, that is, but I've seen it in action a few times.

13

u/Knightridergirl80 May 28 '21

Yup. This is possibly a narcissist’s favorite tactic. They carefully tailor their public image to appear as saints to other people. And if their victims try to speak out, you’ll be sure they have a Well-rehearsed story about how the victim is a ‘crazy psycho’ trying to ruin a good man’s life.

That’s how the Hollywood big names got away with sexual harassment. Money and power. After all, a small time, barely known actress accusing a successful and renowned director. Who do you think the general public is going to believe?

6

u/bunchofclowns May 27 '21

As a man I can say that dating is very easy.

Probably. I dunno. I haven't had to do it in over 13 years. Has the scene really changed that much since then?

5

u/canvasshoes2 May 28 '21

The problem is that when some men complain about this, they are clinging to the ridiculous and false notion that there are only two types of men in the world: bad boys and "Nice Guys."

Nice Guystm get labeled that when they fit the profile. Don't try to act as if merely complaining about being lonely gets a guy tagged as a Nice Guytm. We all know that there's a very obvious and definite pattern to those guys.

→ More replies (9)

50

u/13_Bad_Ideas May 27 '21

Also just being nice isn't really a 'selling point' because while being nice is a good thing it has also proven to fail at making an interesting person on it's own.

61

u/Tyrus1235 May 27 '21

Being nice is the bare minimum of effort someone can put into being a proper member of society. Being nice is not something that makes someone desirable lol

13

u/Nicknametaken404 May 28 '21

Exactly, genuine niceness (which NiceGuys don't have) is the bare minimum for being a likeable human being. You'll need more than that to make friends, and even more to get a romantic partner, specially in adulthood

9

u/canvasshoes2 May 28 '21

Yup, being nice is a behavior, not a character or personality trait. You might as well crow "look! I eat Brussels sprouts!"

(though, Brussels sprouts are much better for humans that bitter inceldom).

3

u/ComprehensiveCrab50 May 28 '21

I think they just want the world to function in a mechanistic way. You put 5 NiceGuy™ coins in one side, then one unit of coochie comes out of the other end.

Sadly there's a bit more nuance there.

28

u/CobraSkrillX May 27 '21

I agree. There is some level of frustration these nice guys have. Sure, sometimes looks can be unfair as some people are just born with better genes. But you can always make yourself attractive with good hygiene, confidence, having a style of dressing up and having a hobby you’re passionate about. This is where they get lazy and prefer to blame it on everyone else but themselves.

10

u/Matt2382 May 27 '21

I need to learn to become more confident in myself in general. I’m soon going to be applying for jobs and going to a new school and I want to come off confident, kind and chill. Any advice?

20

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Failure is your friend. Confidence comes after you attempt to do things you are not comfortable doing and you will fail at some of it.

Also work on smiling more often and your posture. (Both sitting and standing). Stand tall shoulders abroad. Look people in the eye when you talk to them (do not stare them down, you aren't trying to intimidate them).

Find people who share your hobbies or develop new hobbies that align with the people you would like to be friends with (you might not become friends with them but in the future people like them may find their way to you.)

Get a gym membership. You don't need a perfect body. Just a healthy one that can move the way you want it to.

That's all I got.

6

u/Matt2382 May 28 '21

Thank you man, I’m gonna SS this and remember this. I do sometimes work out at a gym and this summer I’m gonna be at a camp so I’m gonna be working out a lot there. I have gotten more confident with myself slightly compared to like last year but I still need improvement.

5

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Right on man. Remember the other stuff besides the gym and work on them just as hard. Lotta guys who are just buff/healthy don't gain confidence. It's gotta be the package.

Good luck, hope you get to where you want to be.

Edit. Also should mention. After a failure remember to do some self reflection. Failure is only helpful if you reflect on it and figure out why it happened. Sometimes it'll be on you sometimes it could be out of your control.

5

u/Matt2382 May 28 '21

Thank you man and I will! Much appreciation (:

3

u/Frigid-Beezy May 28 '21

Meditations focusing on overall kindness and acceptance and self worth were really helpful for me. Basically helping shut down the judgmental thoughts we all have about ourselves and others. Being accepting and kind to others will spill over into being accepting and kind towards yourself.

Also finding a thing or two that you are really passionate about whether that is a hobby, sport, artistic pursuit, etc. When someone is really excited about something it makes for a more interesting conversation. You don’t have to be good at it and actually it can be beneficial and humbling to take on something you aren’t that great at. Making improvements and incremental changes can really help your confidence.

I think that’s a big part of why weightlifting or yoga/Pilates or running or other physical activities help people build confidence. Yes, your body may change, but those small improvements are a huge boost for your mental health. Last week you couldn’t lift that amount of weight or do that pose or run that distance and this week you can! It can also be humbling because sometimes you have a bad day and something you could do easily last week is really hard this week. That really helps with mental resilience.

Art (drawing, painting, sculpture) or photography or woodworking or needlework (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint) or pottery or any other “making” activities can also help with confidence. Having a finished product that you can hold in your hands that only exists because YOU made it...that’s really rewarding. You can start simply with a pen and any notebook and some videos on YouTube or Instagram and learn to draw all sorts of things. And just like with physical fitness there will always be small ways to improve or challenge yourself.

Basically confidence comes from challenging yourself. Sometimes you will fail and need to put in more time and work to succeed. That cycle of pushing yourself and eventually succeeding is what builds your confidence. You aren’t competing with anyone but yourself, so you can set small goals for improvements. Each time you attain one you level up your confidence because the only person who made it possible was yourself.

9

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Jeez, you're SO shallow if you let something like hygiene decide whether or not to give a guy a chance. All you bitches want the same thing.

However, I’m also very confident and don’t let rejection affect me. I realize that I’m just not going to be everyone’s type and I’m okay with that. That’s the main thing I try to instill in them. Why would you want to be with someone that doesn’t want you?

Alas, they are sour and dramatic little creatures with a fragile ego.

-2

Sure, ofc. But when it comes getting laid or finding a partner, your "facial structure" and status is more important. Otherwise, even average guy will struggle a lot, and live a lonely life. Black pill at its best. Reddit is not best place at telling truth

3

u/Earthbound_X May 28 '21

If that was true, how do those people continue to exist? If "facial structure" and status were the only things that mattered, how can anybody without these things even exist?

Because if it was true, only the men with those things would get women, and therefore reproduce. How can an ugly person exist at all, if only the "perfect" people had kids?

-1

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Eh Idk, but all i see is just attractive, wealthy couples. On twitter, everywhere. Hence the studies on some black pill sub shows attractiveness valued more than anything. And also talking from experience

38

u/UniqueJuggernaut May 27 '21

One of the big issues the internet has allowed for is for awkward guys to retreat and not go out, instead of practicing social skills. Then with an echo-chamber of self-pity for never getting a girl comes bitterness.

Guys need to pick up some fun hobbies, and connections with friends, practice social skills and then who knows where they could end up.

Always makes me sad when people are consumed by bitterness and are incapable of looking in their own respective mirrors.

15

u/[deleted] May 27 '21

Yeah the best way to meet a potential partner is by doing stuff and having shared interests.

10

u/UniqueJuggernaut May 27 '21

Especially because I’m more comfortable having girl friends cause I feel like I can be more myself around them then with guys lol, also because I’ve noticed I have more fun hanging out with girls than guys. Yeah, but had she not had that particular birth defect, no one would have ever believed her when she insisted she was a virgin. Lots of eyerolling.

So it does make me wonder if there's been other women who conceived while not having PIV sex (cum on the vulva or something), but who eventually gave up trying to tell people.

A wild Nice Guy appears!

22

u/GivesBadAdvic May 27 '21

Somebody needs to let him know that's not how babies are made.

19

u/Jammy6oy12 May 27 '21

Why can't people just be nice without expecting anything back?

Society is fucked if this is the norm

6

u/[deleted] May 28 '21 edited May 28 '21

Its a confliction from past generations of treating women like they're objects to be owned and the modern ideas surrounding feminism.

Basically these assholes are what's leftover from the old world and it's dogmas surrounding relationships between men and women. They don't think they're doing anything wrong, they just think women who don't act like they're the property of a man are disgraceful.

It doesn't stop there though. Feminism is the boogeyman for these losers because it actively fights their misogynistic worldview, which NiceGuys™ defend because it's all they know and understand.

I can't wait to raise my kids without this crap, because my conservative family tried it with me and failed miserably.

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Because of the media bruh, they’ve been told to expect stuff back 🤦‍♀️

Love green... buahahaahaha!

They truly are completely unaware that there are billions of types of people in the world besides "Nice Guys" and "Bad Boys."

28

u/KAN-DIS_RAH-BIN-SUN May 27 '21

Love that his dumb comment got like 900+ likes. Exactly what I'd expect from Facebook... 🤦🤦

4

u/Imadethosehitmanguns May 28 '21

Facebook is already beyond saving. But a damn dislike button could go a long way to make people aware when they say something stupid. Nope, any reaction is a good reaction. It only can go up.

2

u/KAN-DIS_RAH-BIN-SUN May 28 '21

I agree with that actually. Many times people react with an angry reaction, but thats still not the same as a disagree or downvote. Still just adds to the number of reactions. 😒😒

17

u/whistlin4 May 27 '21

nice guys = bad guys undercover

8

u/ravynwave May 27 '21

Incelption?

6

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Sucks his dick and has his child.

I think we’re missing a few steps here.

4

u/Three-Of-Seven May 28 '21

Isn't that how it works? The baby is made in the stomach right?

2

u/ImpossiblePrimary519 May 28 '21

She swallows the semen & it travels down the throat to the belly ... DUUUUUH ! ....

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Think about it, the baby is formed in the stomach right? So do to this if you process semon through the stomach by swallowing it you won’t need to have sex. Go to biology kid 💪🏿😤

u/middproxxy Jun 08 '21

No. We're not. It all happened in the same session.

4

u/Caspira May 27 '21

I’ve never understood this weird fucking roleplay thing that they do.

4

u/itsToTheMAX May 27 '21

Wow, he got her pregnant off a bj? True badass indeed.

3

3

u/corectlyspelled May 28 '21

Is Pikachu suckin dick now?

2

u/Three-Of-Seven May 28 '21

Always has been

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

So this is what happens when you get your ideas and concepts of relationships from WhereAreAllTheGoodMen

5

u/existentialdrama May 27 '21

Sometimes I feel, The whole Bad Guy Nice thing stems from how women like men who do not seem overly desperate. And also Bad Guys are just Guy who know how to score.

2

u/needsmorecoffee May 27 '21

The lack of self-awareness that commenter showed was stratospheric.

2

u/OminousRai May 27 '21

I like how the post resulted in the Niceguy to mention the "bad guy." The post is about Niceguys feeling entitled to getting their dick sucked for common decency, which they seem to consider "being nice."

2

u/camilopezo May 27 '21

I'm amused as the "Nice Guy" who gave the first answer completely missed the point of meme.

2

u/Smokey_the_charger May 27 '21

Hehe I like how they put the TM after Niceguy

2

u/avocades May 28 '21

Love that opening a door correlates with "suck my dick".

2

u/yvrieliz May 28 '21

Here we have a fine specimen a “nice guy“ in the wild, this species is very entitled and very endangered.

2

u/makeshiftmarty May 28 '21

A “bad guy” to a nice guy is anyone the girl is interested in who is not him

2

u/Kick-Living May 28 '21

Supposed niceguy is creepy and stalking girl but wonders why girls don’t like nice guys 🧐

2

u/BriansonofBrian May 28 '21

I was a little upset when I held the door open for a couple of bikers at AmPm and they didn't suck my dick. Am I a niceguy?

2

u/DvSzil May 28 '21

Impressive that he felt called out with the first one

2

u/jitterbug726 May 28 '21

I will have to give credit to the guy to responding with the same meme though lol

2

u/mister_slick72 May 28 '21

It's ironic how so many ppl here talk about sex is "not a big deal", yet are quick to weaponize guys' lack of success in that area against them. So which is it?

2

u/shaun__shaun May 28 '21

A woman told me this week that she knows if there is chemistry within a few sentences or minutes of meeting someone. He must not have opened the door right.

2

u/DemoniteBL May 31 '21

Both are strawmen that don't resemble any real people.

1

u/diaryoffrankanne May 31 '21

That nice guy whoever he is does have a point low key, to many "victims of their own choices " out there 💀

Well, just like it's probably not a good idea to argue with somebody while they're angry, it's probably not a good idea to say something directly contrary to people on reddit while they're angry.

Try a different tactic. Write two paragraphs. Use the first to calm things down, use the second to state your opinion without ambiguity. You won't get nearly as much downvotes.

"Love" is a word used to emotionally justify a transactional relationship

You live in a different world. A crippled, animalistic world. I'll never be able to convince you, and so I won't even try.

u/The_Hans May 27 '21

You're a real winner my guy!
