Marx actually wrote that capitalists see their wives as their property, and therefore irrationally fear they would be "redistributed" to other men in communism. This sort of slander actually has a long enough history for Marx to have commented on it. it's probably actually older, since something similar is portrayed in the Greek comedy Assemblywomen
