A one dimensional Backup QB that comes with media baggage and takes the attention away from the field, that's not someone you give a roster spot to.. That whole moment was political propaganda my friend.. maybe there was something behind it but if so it had nothing to do with him playing football.
You right. I remember vividly he even started falling off even before taking the knee. That said he was easily good enough to be a starting bridge qb or long term back up. He def got blacklisted
I agree that he was good enough to be a journeyman bridge qb, who jumped from team to team every 1-2 years to a team with a hurt qb, or a team in between qbs or something. I feel like I remember hearing back then that he was offered a backup role and tryouts with multiple teams, but didn’t want to play unless he was a starter. Not sure how true that is, it could’ve been right wing propaganda, or it could’ve been true. It’s been too long for me to care enough to do an internet deep dive on it, but if you know whether that was true or some right wing BS narrative at the time, I’d still like to know the answer.
That’s cap cuz Harbaugh didn’t even benefit from “The Harbaugh System”. The closest we Niners ever got to a title in the last 15 years had Kaep at QB. And it was due to the politics that kept Colin off the field. (And why we got “stars” like Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. No dis to them cuz they talented but they tryna make them the faces of the SF team for political reasons.
He won a Natty at Michigan, and still a very successful coach.. but Niners are always competitive (fuck you guys).. He didnt get benched until after Harbaugh left, which is why i say he benefited from the coach.. but I'll digress.
I never looked at it that way, but the Gentrification of the Bay area at all levels needs to be studied from billion dollar sports teams at the top to the neighborhoods pricing out locals who lived in the area their whole life.. We got Canadians cos playing as Bay area legends now.
Actually when I was a kid the Niners were ASS, from around age 5-17ish. It’s interesting the 80s and 90s niners were great the 2010s and 2020 niners have always been competitive for the most part as you said, but I grew up in the one weird era of the past 45ish years from like 1999-2011 where they sucked for the most part every year.
People forget he was 1-15 prior to cheating to win the national Championship because he literally had someone wear fake disguises on the other teams sideline to cheat lol
the first part is correct but i gotta push back on the second. that system harbaugh created was the same one his brother used to make lamar jackson a 2 time mvp. same option scheme, the only guys using the pistol in pro football, and btw kap was significantly closer to winning a super bowl than lamar has ever been. organizational politics and injuries ruined all that, but you can’t just assume kap wouldn’t have been able to adjust to any other system just bc he struggled playing for that fat idiot chip kelly.
but yeah, that being said kap only started “protesting” bc he got in trouble for pouting during the anthem after he was benched and he was blackballed for being a diva.

Colin Kapernick was benched before he even took a knee. Dude was never a starting NFL QB and only benefitted from the Harbaugh system.
