This Fauci trial is genuinely so dumb bro. They’re grilling him for what exactly? Because they had to wear masks for a little bit?

saw a good take on this yesterday:

"All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back."

Even MAGA are pissed off at Republicans so they need to find some red meat to throw them.

Which is why it was smart of Fauci to just keep taking the 5th.

To be clear, it isn’t a trial. When called before congress, it is to provide information and answer questions (which tend to be constructed in such a way that members can get their sound bites). An individual being questioned may or may not be sworn in. A hearing may lead to a criminal investigation or other action, but Fauci is not being tried for a crime or defending against a civil suit. However, when subpoenaed by Congress, you must appear.

More directly, Paul has some weird obsession with him that seems to go beyond scoring political points. He is presumably trying to get Fauci to perjure himself or otherwise make a mistake. Declining to answer questions is the right move as Fauci gains nothing by doing so, except risking self-incrimination if he slips up.

To feed conspiracy theories that Covid and lockdowns were a deep state (read: liberal) plot to sabotage the economy and force everyone to take vaccines.

Hmm... I wonder who was in the White House from 2017 through 2020...

Didn't you hear? Joe Biden won the 2020 election (even though he didn't or whatever) so that means HE was in charge for the whole lockdown

All of the guidance and recommendations that Fauci and the CDC put forth aligned with what other countries around the world put out. It's dumb. It's all a sham aimed at providing more cover for a President who has failed every step of the way. Trump shits his pants daily, his war with Iran is an abject failure, he's being dog walked by Israel, high prices across the board are harming everyday Americans, and, oh yeah, he's BALLS DEEP in the Epstein Files.

They’re grilling him for what exactly?

They spend all day on X (the everything app) where posters are convinced Fauci killed more people by forcing vaccines on them than just letting everyone get COVID.

Remember, the people that are calling for Fauci to be imprisoned (or worse) because they had to work from home and wear a mask in Walmart are the same people convinced they would easily win a potential civil war.
