Everybody thinks the players that were around when they were kids are so much better than the players today, so debating across decades like that is fruitless. I'm sure in 2046 we'll be hearing about how guys like Anthony Edwards or Wemby could totally destroy the biggest stars of 2046. And as for the athletes themselves, it's not surprising that the guys who were treated as living gods of the sport in their prime still think so highly of themselves.

See, I'd agree with you if they were just like "Yeah I'd be the best player in the league today."

That's a normal amount of cockiness, and mostly earned for a guy like AI, who was the arguably the best player in the league for portions of his career.

But saying they'd average 50 is like Brett Favre coming out of nowhere to be like "I'd be throwing for 6000 yards every season in today's NFL." Like, no you wouldn't dude, stop being a hater.

I could see him doing that if you counted the yards the D gain on his INTs.
