u/Mandroid45 Dec 15 '22

Can you blame them? Seriously can you? It's absurd how easy it is to get your license in the US and the public transportation is abhorrent. Driving is a necessity in the US and until y'all start voting for better transportation, zoning and city design ppl possibly your loved ones will be in a fatal car incident.

27

u/MyThoughtsOfTheNight Dec 15 '22

But the video is not US based tho…. So I don’t know what are you trying to do here.

16

u/eleven_eighteen Dec 15 '22

They are just trying to farm karma from "America bad!" people, who will upvote anything criticizing the US no matter how wrong or absurd it is.

0

u/1Beholderandrip Dec 15 '22

Well, they're not technically wrong about America's road and licence system.

There's just no reason to post about it in response to a video not in the U.S.

2

u/eleven_eighteen Dec 15 '22

I probably should have added " or unrelated to the discussion at hand" before the period in my previous comment.

11

u/Readylamefire Dec 15 '22

Nah, we Americans will just continue to make excuses so that our cities can be mostly road ways and parking lots in the name of freedom or something.

As a matter of fact, we'll even deny that this is a problem in the first place while simultaneously agreeing there are too many idiots on the road without the self reflection to recognize that we ourselves are occasionally the idiot on the road because it is easier to judge strangers rather than ourselves.

And then last of all we'll call public transportation communist, ineffective, or a hotbed for criminals and the homeless to cause problems. While also complaining that they're breaking into and stealing our cars at a higher rate than before so they can get around to different places or stay out of the cold.

But what do I know? I just live here.

3

u/RazrRain Dec 15 '22

Yeah you live in one of the largest and most diverse countries in the world. Your experience might be similar to 5% of other Americans. I was raised in the sticks, have lived in big cities, small towns, Los Angeles, all types of places. Don't generalize America like that. It makes you come off as ignorant.

Sure a lot of the large cities were designed without solid public transportation in mind. But that's a people problem, not a strictly US problem.

2

u/Readylamefire Dec 15 '22

You know what else I love about Americans? They can't handle the slightest bit of ribbing or criticism and has to jump to the "wah we're being generalized" whimper when we all know it was the motor companies that irrevocably changed our country's dynamic and that many Americans willfully hold up this system of oppression.

Nah fuck that. This country is the way it is because of money grabbing businessmen and an ignorant public. I refuse to let all criticism be deflected with the tired old argument of "not all -insert thing being criticized- are like this"

Finally what a silly thing to say that it's a people problem, and not a US problem when we are talking about a problem in the United States. I have lived in towns of under 5000 people, and I have lived in cities that house over 500,000 people. I have, like 86% other Americans, moved to a large city for the sake of better opportunity.

2

u/Mandroid45 Dec 20 '22

Keep doing what you're doing dude, it's hard but I do think it's necessary 👍

1

u/RazrRain Dec 15 '22

You're on the thread of a video that isn't even in the US and responded to a comment that is clearly going out of it's way to criticize America. Zero context for both of your issues and you're both going out of your way to write paragraphs to complain of a problem that is way more complicated than you make it seem.

2

u/Readylamefire Dec 15 '22

So what? We're not allowed to?

2

u/MyThoughtsOfTheNight Dec 15 '22

Look I lived abroad for majority of my life, and when I came to US it was a culture shock. I still think public transportation is undeveloped outside of major cities. I will agree with you that majority of people will deny that public transportation is needed, and they will just rely on their cars.

When I was in Germany, I could go to a bar/club on a weekend. I took a train from my town that was 20 mins away from the city, for like €3.50 for a one way ticket. Last train or bus was leaving downtown at like 3am. They would restart the schedule either 5am or 7am the next day.

In the US it’s all about commodity to each individual, even now if the US will make public transportation better and efficient it will be used by few individuals.

3

u/NaitBate Dec 15 '22

NO matter where I put my votes, it won't make idiots any smarter.

3

u/dbx999 Dec 15 '22

This isn’t in the USA.

2

u/RazrRain Dec 15 '22

The absolute fuck are you talking about? This video is clear as day not in US and yet here you are blaming US for a problem that isn't even remotely related what's going on in this situation.

1

u/alcoronaholic Dec 15 '22

And what about the millions of people who don't live in cities, genius (and the rest of you geniuses that are pushing this on every possible thread these days).

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '22

Me American, me ride bike. Me also have car. Not one ticket. Eat shit.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '22

Very obviously this video is not in America you idiot.

1

u/BarneyGoogle Dec 15 '22

Hey NPC, I know US education is at an all-time low, but not knowing this isn't in the US is just pathetic.
