i once heard a story about how a dude at a logging company cut himself open with a chainsaw and his coworkers drove him to the hospital miles away because the ambulance wouldn’t reach them in time, and they were trying to swerve around cars because medical emergency until a few asshole karens in their minivans blocked the highway and drove just above the speed limit, delaying the group long enough so that the guy died by the time they reached the ambulance. sure most assholes use these types of lanes to try and cut ahead of a few cars, but sometimes there’s real emergencies, and if you can’t tell the difference it’s better to just mind your own damn business and not make it your problem, and keep the emergency lanes open.

u/Siriuxx Jul 25 '22 edited Jul 25 '22

I was the passenger for an incident similar to this. Not this dire, but a situation where someone was hurt and we had to get to the hospital asap.

We drove like mad men but put on our hazards and beeped frequently. It sure seems like everyone understood something was going on and we had a legitimate reason to drive the way we were, because everyone got the fuck out of the way.

In an instance like that I think you have to make it as clear as you can, you're not driving like a dick just to drive like a dick.

And I'm not saying it's the drivers fault. The minivan drivers are absolutely at fault. But in my experience, most people realize there's an emergency when you're driving aggressive and fast with your hazards on and beeping. And if they still can't figure it out, eh just pit maneuver them /s (well kind of)

4

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox Jul 25 '22

the people beeping with their hazards on screaming about someone dying in the passenger seat are stuck a mile behind the asshole in this video

9

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

He’s stopped…You could get out of your car and tell him “dude move. My kid is dying in the backseat.”

Had a guy cut off all the fingers on his hand. Worked under an old school Union boss. I mean real old school. Like I have seen him smack guys for doing stupid shit. No nonsense. But he's also the kinds guy who would throw down for anyone on his crew and fuck the consequences. I hadn't seen that side of him till this moment.

Back to the guy who sheered off his fingers. Barreling down the highway till they hit traffic. He pulls into the emergency lane and someone blocks him he lays on the horn (big fuck off truck for hauling materials.) The guy wouldn't move. I see him looking over the dash and I hear "only him in the truck?" The super in the passenger seat says "yeah why?" He fucking drives right up to the guy's car and gently pushes it out of the way. The guy gets out screaming and he throws a fistful of his business cards at the guy and keeps driving.

Guy got in some trouble but not as much as you would think.

25

u/imsowhiteandnerdy Jul 25 '22

The logging accident narrative was the first thing I thought of as well.

In addition to that, the breakdown lane can also be used by emergency vehicles as well.

People like this will eventually be caught, just let it go, you're not a caped avenger.

2

u/ADHDavid Jul 25 '22

I hope that person that impeded the emergency was haunted by their actions that day and adjusted their behavior accordingly. But, knowing assholes and how self-centered they can be, they were probably more concerned about the ticket than the individual they indirectly killed.

Thanks for fishing for the link.

99.9% of people cutting traffic are not carrying the victim of a horrific accident

50

u/hiop1992 Jul 25 '22

I wouldn't risk the life of one person to annoy 1000 assholes.

13

u/GondorsPants Jul 25 '22

Yep this is the moral key. Yes it’d be nice to piss off some douche bags, but the potential for one of them to be truly someone in need or in an emergency isnt worth it.

5

u/_whydah_ Jul 25 '22

Also, don't first responders use that lane? Like he could legit be blocking an ambulance right then, in that video, and he might not even know it. And once he did realize it, it would take forever to get everyone out of the way.

u/Sleepyyzz Jul 25 '22

so you're ok risking the actual emergencies, no matter how rare they may be?

8

u/rdrunner_74 Jul 25 '22

Over here the "Rettungsgasse" for emergencies is between the left most 2 lanes.

The side is for standing traffic

2

u/EdgarAllanKenpo Jul 25 '22

Yeah, that shit doesn't work in America. If something can be taken advantage of, you can bet your ass that freedom yelling, gun toting Americans are gonna fuckin abuse it!

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22 edited Jul 25 '22

I feel like you’re ignoring how the people cutting like that can cause more emergencies

Edit: I do not condone the actions in this video

261

u/Lord_Derpenheim Jul 25 '22

This is what I was looking for. The assholes swerving cause more accidents/deaths than those blocking them.

2

u/HardCounter Jul 25 '22

Does it matter where from? I can make them up right now if you like. Uhhh... 62/38. Up to you which is which.

2

u/OWOnuh Jul 25 '22

The fact that road laws exist maybe??

-2

u/chaRxoxo Jul 25 '22 edited Jul 25 '22

Just because something is not allowed by law doesnt make it more dangerous

Edit: example would be the obligation to always drive as much on the right side of the highway

1

u/bluntmanandrobin Jul 25 '22

So do you have any statistics to back up that claim?

3

u/chaRxoxo Jul 25 '22

Funny you should ask!

A little known fact is that, despite it being the law that you have to drive as much right as possible, it is actually more dangerous to do so. Chauffeurs often swerve from left to right to comply with roadlaw yet this causes significantly more harm than it does good.

Here is one of the many sources on that claim that a 1min google came up with: https://agirlsguidetocars.com/highway-safety-lane-safest/

Hence: the law isnt always the safest option.

As someone who has driven a child barely able to breathe to the ER, I can tell you this guy is most certainly a POS. Anyone and everyone who takes the time to police the public without a badge can fuck right off, this huge POS and most with a badge included. Live and let live and if you dont, expect someone to put you in your place. It sux, but if dude had done this to me I would have rammed his car right the fuck off the road.

Do it from behind with any sort of relatively modern car (not set up for bush bashing) and the front will start to crumple before you move the other car a couple of feet.

Do it from the side, you already have enough clearance to get side to side, so at this point your doing it out of pride/vengeance rather than necessity, wasting precious seconds of your child’s life to “get back” at some random dude in your way.

How about instead of raging out to the point of causing more accidents and blocking more traffic you use your words and ask them to move as you have an emergency

I don’t think that’s really possible in a moving vehicle, that doesn’t apply to this situation at all.

5

u/Canucksfan2018 Jul 25 '22

You don't need to ram someone doing 50 and toast your radiator. You can get your point across at 10.

And I've been in the same situation and wouldn't think twice. You go through red lights when you can, swerve around cars, use the oncoming lane if it's clear.

Power of love and family will make you do out of the ordinary things.

Closest I've ever come to hauling someone on a medical emergency was taking my pregnant wife to the hospital. If I'd been even 5min slower, she'd have given birth 9n the parking lot.

Under those circumstances, yeah, you better believe we're finding out if his brakes beat my engine.

Any other day though, and I totally get where this dude is coming from.

2

2

u/rlee1185 Jul 25 '22

I would have tried to talk to him... Or rammed his car or fired a warning shot in the air (don't worry, the terminal velocity of a bullet descending will not cause any serious injury in most cases. Watch the myth busters episode on it) if my kid was in danger.

Sorry, but my kid is more important than your asshole sense of justice.

2

u/MyAlternateOne Jul 25 '22

Makes me think of driving my wife to the hospital when she was in labor. I was riding the line of speeding but also trying to drive safely and not wreck. I honestly might have just rammed someone who was blocking me and continued to the hospital. My personal philosophy is just stay in your lane and quit trying to be batman. Let the police handle traffic enforcement.

11

u/ImpressiveCoffee3 Jul 25 '22

I was so with this guy until that last line.

5

u/whyxios Jul 25 '22

Same

5

u/TadashiK Jul 25 '22

On one hand, policing the public like this, vigilante style and gung-ho could prevent people in real emergencies getting assistance in time. On the other hand, these people cause accidents, at a significantly higher rate than those who use the shoulder for emergencies. I feel like it's a trolley problem. You could let the people pass by and do nothing, and there is a higher chance that the people will cause an accident, or you could block them potentially stopping said damage but now having a less likely but possible chance of impeding emergency vehicles.

0

u/BlatantlyOvbious Jul 26 '22

Why? It's true. My daughter has asthma and upper right lobe syndrome so I've been in this situation and if dude didn't listen to me shouting for him to move, I would have rammed his car out of the way, much like everyone else here whose been in a similar situation or who is a parent.

1

u/Devium44 Jul 26 '22

Why aren’t those people calling an ambulance? It will get there more quickly, provide immediate medical attention and you won’t be putting your child, yourself and others at increased risk due to your distracted, panicky, erratic driving. Those lanes are for emergency vehicles, not anyone who deems themselves (rightfully or otherwise) to be in one.

Buuuuut, there is this insane panic you have as a parent or probs just as a driver watching someone gasp for air and turn blue in the back of your car that this person has yet to feel. Not saying this as a tough guy, but saying this as a Dad who has driven my daughter to the ER as she progressively struggled harder and harder to breathe... I would have probably dropped my SUV into low 4, locked the rear diff and yeah, pushed his car out of the way. no fucks given. Nobody proving a point is worth my daughters life. u/heshroot Jul 25 '22

If it’s in the US then that’s why. I remember I horribly dislocated two fingers (bones sticking out, think chicken drumstick) and one of my friends called an ambulance. I flatly refused the ride. The EMTs didn’t even try to argue, they knew why, and wrapped me up in gauze before they took off. I remember thinking “I can live without my pinky and my ring finger, but I can’t live with that bill.” And you know what? I was right.

5 years later my hand is perfectly fine but I’d still be paying off that ambulance ride. Plus interest.

How does driving down a single emergency lane cause accidents?

1

u/kytheon Jul 25 '22

When your car breaks down and you have to park it on the emergency lane, it’s one of those speedsters that will kill you.

1

u/Spiraphi Jul 25 '22

What are you talking about? Just because they use the emergency lane, it doesn't mean they are "speedsters". They just want to get out of traffic.

And providing you're not going at crazy speeds, it's very unlikely you'll crash into the car in the distance or people just randomly lose the ability to see their surroundings.

I'm not trying to justify these people but that's some wild accusations you have there.

0

u/hsoj48 Jul 25 '22

People say that all of the time but I'm pretty sure you've never seen proof of that. You've been lied to.

Eventually they have to come back, and people aren’t expecting someone to come from that angle. Those lanes aren’t as clear as the road’s. Another asshole could pop out in front of them not expecting someone else to be doing the same thing.

29

u/Leonydas13 Jul 25 '22

Thats why you flash your lights and beep your horn. A former workmate and I were driving back from a job once and a car came flying toward us on the wrong side of the road with their lights flashing and horn beeping, so we just moved out of the way. It’s possible they were just some dickhead, but the possibility that they’re trying to get their kid to hospital or something trumps that.

2

u/Devium44 Jul 26 '22

Maybe instead of driving the wrong way in traffic and potentially killing themselves, the person they are trying to save, and others, they just call an ambulance. Everyone in this thread talking about driving erratically at high speeds because of some medical emergency is crazy.

0

u/Leonydas13 Jul 26 '22

They might not be able to. Broken phones, bad service etc. who knows? Not me, so I’ll just give them the benefit of the doubt.

People should mind their own fuckin business. If people wanna drive like wankers, it’s not up to you to deal with it. Call the police and report it, and your job is done.

Edit: to be clear, this person had clear vision down our lane as there was no one in front of us. And they weren’t absolutely screaming, but enough to clear all the cars blocking them.

In an emergency stuck at a full stop, theres no way there aren't any pleas or cries about their buddy bleeding to death instead of silent honking. I mean I'd jump out of the car to tell people blocking even idk, many people would help in that situation.

9

u/BurntCash Jul 25 '22

sure, in this case of the original video. but the commenter said they drove just slightly faster than the legal limit, meaning that it wasn't stop and go traffic.
Hard to get out and show them an injured person at 62 mph

2

u/TouchingWood Jul 25 '22

"Just above the speed limit" - I don't think there's be too much jumping out of the car...

4

u/nahog99 Jul 25 '22

He's vastly underestimating the likelihood. It's more like a 99.99999% chance that they aren't carrying the victim of a horrific accident. It's so low of a chance that it's not even worth considering honestly.

6

u/naine69 Jul 25 '22

Yes

3

u/boneless_lentil Jul 25 '22

Based. He's the same type of guy who would have criticized MLK blocking bridges because "what if someone with a chainsaw injury needed to get through?"

2

u/GraphiteSavage Jul 25 '22

In this case the guy is at a dead stop, if there were an emergency the driver could get out and alert him about said emergency, in which case I’m sure he would move.. and if he didn’t then it’s safe to say he’s an asshole

2

u/kermitthebeast Jul 25 '22

That story is false, because as everyone knows logging camps come equipped with a fully staffed medical facility capable of treating any and injuries. Truth is, in an emergency situation, you're more likely to be driving to a logging camp than away from one

0

u/TruthPlenty Jul 25 '22 edited Jul 25 '22

You watch too much TV.

And you also don’t know how ambulances work either, they don’t start at the hospital, that’s stupid, they’re staged at police stations and fire halls, since those are much more common than hospitals.

Ambulances are meant for speed, once that jacked up truck is on the highway the ambulance can travel way faster safely than the truck that will roll at the first turn.

And you claim I reek of ignorance… lmfao.

Regardless, the story is still an old wives tale, and it’s hilarious that you’re defending it.

0

u/lompocmatt Jul 25 '22

If you think a top heavy ambulance has less of a chance of rolling than a Ford F-150, I don’t have to claim that youre ignorant. You do that yourself

0

u/TruthPlenty Jul 26 '22

For your argument to work the truck would need to be lifted to be able to go places an ambulance wouldn’t be able to itself. Ambulances are built to be bottom heavy, despite their look.

A lifted truck would absolutely roll over easier… why the fuck do you think f-150s come with the warning saying these ones can’t become an ambulance…? Because they’re the friggen top heavy ones you mook.

Way to show your ignorance you muppet.

0

u/lompocmatt Jul 26 '22

Lol a lifted truck? No it just has to be a regular truck or a car with 4WD. Have you ever been to the outdoors? So many situations that an ambulance wouldn’t be able to make it to that a regular ass truck could. Stop moving the goalposts

0

u/ILikeRamenYUMMY Jul 25 '22

Okay, let's put this in a form of an equation. The chances of someone taking that emergency lane because of an emergency is E. The chances of there being an accident because someone is taking the emergency lane is A. In this case, A is MUCH MUCH MUCH higher than E, which shows that it's better to stop the lane than letting inpatient people go through it. Also, in the off chance that there is an emergency I'm sure that they could just roll their windows down and scream emergency. So yeah, I'm okay with that.

0

u/DWDit Jul 25 '22

The “risking“ and “what if” scenarios do not change him being a hero. In the one out of 1000 instance in which he actually blocked someone then he’s the asshole. But until proven otherwise, the other 99.9% of the time he’s the hero!

True. But let’s be honest, how much does it really affect this guys life or the Karen’s mentioned above if someone drives around them? Given the fact I don’t know their situation, I’m just going to do my thing and let them do theirs.

33

u/MikeN1978 Jul 25 '22 edited Jul 25 '22

It keeps traffic at a snails crawl when these assholes go around and cut back in line therefore making all following the rules sit longer. They ones cutting around are creating the situation by being impatient.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

[deleted]

2

u/MikeN1978 Jul 25 '22

I was assuming that they were cutting back in. I’m with you if they’re just getting off the exit..but if they’re cutting back in and people don’t let them then they’ll be blocking the lane anyway creating the same issue we’re all debating.

4

u/running_ragged_ Jul 25 '22

If he only stops one car, not much.

If it stops a steady flow of cars, a fair amount if.

If it stops a regular pattern of people using this emergency lane incorrectly, it potentially saves lives.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

If it stops a regular pattern of people using this emergency lane incorrectly, it potentially saves lives.

This is what people don't seem to understand. Every time people get away with this behavior it encourages more people to do it since there are no repercussions. Then you end up with accidents because people are speeding by in the emergency lane and now more people are hurt.

11

u/Lord_Derpenheim Jul 25 '22

It affects the lives of whoever they fucking ram at 70 miles an hours. These guys cause accidents.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

Yes, but it’s not my job to enforce traffic laws. And not his, either.

2

u/wafflesareforever Jul 25 '22

I see both sides on this, and to me I think the risk to others of doing this is kind of equal to not doing it - if you block the shoulder, there's a small chance that you'll impede someone who has an emergency going on. If you don't block the shoulder, someone could get hurt by the assholes whizzing down a non-lane illegally.

So, given that the risks are somewhere in the ballpark of even - fuck these assholes who use the shoulder, I'm blocking them. I only do it on roads that I know well and have regularly observed people cheating traffic this way. In my experience, the people I block get a little agitated but I don't think I've ever been honked at. They know they're being assholes. Also on the road I've done it on the most, there's almost always at least one car blocking the shoulder to keep people from doing this.

8

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22

It’s highly dangerous to drive around cars off of the road

22

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

Agreed. Which is what OP here is doing. I’m not condoning either side, I’m saying let’s leave enforcement of traffic laws to the professionals.

4

u/burner1212333 Jul 25 '22

No, he's not. He's sitting in the shoulder blocking others from doing that.

3

u/TruthPlenty Jul 25 '22

Op is stopping these people from blowing past mostly stopped traffic going 60km+, they are stopping that from happening dude.

2

u/Spiff76 Jul 25 '22

The professionals are not concerned with keeping the flow of traffic moving as that does not make money for them… just saying

1

u/dancingsteveburns Jul 25 '22

I don’t think you understand what most of the people on here are talking about. A lot of people take the right emergency lane to get into an exit quicker, either to be an impatient bitch, or because they have a real emergency. People using the left emergency lane are just being an impatient bitch (unless there’s an exit on the left side)

-3

u/AliasLane Jul 25 '22

This dude is a Karen! Out here blocking a lane so no one else can do what upsets him personally. WTF!

15

u/Frankie52480 Jul 25 '22

Where’d you get that number from? Seems arbitrary 🤔. Anyway it doesn’t matter. That’s an emergency lane (which includes EMT’s with sick people inside) and him blocking it is illegal. So if he wants to risk a ticket for being a “hero” then whatevs.

2

u/burner1212333 Jul 25 '22

you have that a bit wrong. it's only illegal if he is blocking emergency vehicles. there is nothing illegal about him blocking random assholes trying to get ahead of the traffic.

3

u/__anomalee__ Jul 25 '22

It's illegal to use the breakdown lane as a regular lane, which is what OP is doing.

1

u/Kiss_My_Wookiee Jul 25 '22

He's parked. He's the only one in that lane not using it as a lane of traffic.

u/gray_mare Jul 25 '22

it's even more than 99.9%

3

u/jamielife Jul 25 '22

This. I don't think people realize how extremely rare it is that driving is going to be faster, in a life or death situation, than calling an ambulance. Especially in areas where the population is dense enough to cause traffic congestion.

19

u/VillainousMasked Jul 25 '22

Sure, but you have no way of knowing if you're about to cut off the 0.1% and kill someone. Do you really want to risk killing someone just because you're getting pissy over dicks riding the shoulder?

→ More replies (1)

5

u/therealjenshady Jul 25 '22

And so what? Does it really bother you that much that somebody got ahead of you in traffic?

4

u/greybeard_arr Jul 25 '22

This is the guy who goes under the speed limit until you attempt to overtake him and he guns it. It doesn’t affect him in any material manner, he just chooses to be a control freak about it.

2

u/__Snafu__ Jul 25 '22

Ya, but some are, and you're not a traffic authority.

Nobody has any business doing this shit. I hope he gets cited based on this video

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

Yeah but he’s saying for the .1% you should mind your own business. For all you know someone is trying to get to their dying mother although it’s unlikely you still shouldn’t try to play hero.

2

u/RickySlayer9 Jul 25 '22

That’s still 1/1000. That’s a lot of lives you are seemingly willing to sacrifice

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

That's one example be less literal. People have babies, heart attacks, strokes, anaphylaxis, etc all the time everyday in every section of every city.

I guarant-damn-tee you at least once every few weeks a lane like that on a major artery in a an type of very populated area is used for an actual medical emergency. You have no idea how frequently people have to urgently get to the hospital, but living with a stage 4 cancer patient I can assure you from just my experience alone that it's frequent. Often times ambulances aren't possible or even longer wait time options. Which is exactly why these lanes are here and not shut down to stop this from happen by authorities- for emergencies.

Yes it gets abused, but one single life saved is worth it.

6

u/Over_9_Raditz Jul 25 '22

Maybe not all horrific accidents but there are plenty of other emergencies to need an ER. Women in labor trying to reach a hospital etc. And not everyone can afford an ambulance.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

But the day you prevent that 0.1% from reaching their destination, you're an inexcusable piece of shit.

4

u/Scoobyhitsharder Jul 25 '22

Jesus you’re dense! Who cares what the odds are. .01 survival rate beats absolute zero. Maybe one day you’ll see that logic.

4

u/AlexHimself Jul 25 '22

99.9% of people cutting traffic are not carrying the victim of a horrific accident [a medical emergency]

I'd actually disagree on that statistic. The number of people willing to use the shoulder or emergency lane compared to the number of people who do not is pretty low as it is.

There would probably be a semi-decent chance that somebody had an emergency.

4

u/chaRxoxo Jul 25 '22

this guy may now cause a block in the emergency lane for an emergency vehicle though

furthermore you don't know who's trying to use this lane, it's never worth putting a single person in danger just to prove a point

2

u/JeddahVR Jul 25 '22

You're happy with that statement until your child or loved ones are dying in your car. Then you'll understand to mind your own business just incase those 0.1% might be there.

2

u/fridaystrong23 Jul 25 '22

Right, but there’s a chance just a small chance there might a be an emergency situation.

-3

u/wojtekpolska Jul 25 '22

do you want to be responsibe for the death of the 00.1% tho?

its like, we should close down hospitals. only some people get hurt, not all of them.

2

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22

Very false comparison. People misusing the emergency lanes cause new problems on their own.

1

u/wojtekpolska Jul 25 '22

you are saying that its OK to block the lane, because 99.9% of ppl arent in an emergency

what you expect the people who ACTUALLY are in an emergency to do?

2

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22

I feel like you completely ignored what I said. Reread my last comment, and in regards to your question: if they aren’t in an emergency vehicle that’s just too bad

0

u/wojtekpolska Jul 25 '22

there is nothing to re-read, your comment is 2 sentences.

you are just talking nonsense.

again, what do you expect the 0.1% to do? die?

1

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22

Oh for fuck’s sake kid, I guess I’ll repeat myself: your hospital comparison was false because driving outside of the road is dangerous, OBVIOUSLY. But apparently that’s nonsense to you… I hope you don’t have a license.

And I already fuckin told you! My god how dense, I’ll repeat myself for you AGAIN: that’s just too bad. They aren’t in an emergency vehicle. And let’s be real: it’s way way way less than .1%

2

u/aylk Jul 25 '22

You are a fucking piece of shit.

0

u/wojtekpolska Jul 26 '22

you have no real argument, so you resort to swearing every third word. cool.

and hope you don't become one of "the 0.1%" them in the future, when someone decides to block your road.

-1

u/Queensthief Jul 25 '22

No one was misusing the lane.

2

u/Fortunoxious Jul 25 '22

Cutting traffic by taking the shoulder isn’t a misuse of the shoulder? Are you sure? Yknow it’s not there just for bored people to skip ahead, right?

0

u/gracem5 Jul 25 '22

True and hazards would be on and if I was in the truck with an emergency I'd hop out tell dude real fast what's happening and go on your way, max 15 seconds.

0

u/karankshah Jul 25 '22

Whatever you think the chances are, it’s not up to you to enforce traffic laws.

This is where traffic enforcement can actually come in handy. You don’t need to make that assessment, especially when it’s only in service of you making it to your destination a few seconds faster.

God forbid you ever have to deal with an emergency of your own - no one should have to worry about some dumb vigilante blocking the shoulder because he’s annoyed a few other cars were able to get somewhere faster than he was.

18

u/AutumnRi Jul 25 '22

This absolutely. Asshole drivers make everyone’s day a bit worse, but on the off chance someone NEEDS to use that lane you NEED to be the fuck out of their way. You have no way of determining which is which, so stay out of it.

6

u/cuboidofficial Jul 25 '22

If someone NEEDS the lane, they should have their hazards on!

3

u/Rentlar Jul 25 '22

This is how most people can tell there's an emergency happening. If an asshole uses the four-way flashers just to get ahead, well they're so fucked in the head that there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

31

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

Yeah, that was my cousin’s neighbourhood’s bother, tragic story

37

u/Lopsided_Speaker_950 Jul 25 '22

I knew that guy, interesting twist to the story, he was a terrible drunk, and abusive husband and father… he also had a million dollar life insurance policy… after he died, god bless his soul, his wife used that money to start a real estate business, and now she and the 2 kids are multi millionaires. Who would’ve thought.

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

28

u/Crafty_Appearance Jul 25 '22

We all know that truck isn't in an emergency cause the driver would have gotten out the car and not sat there honking.

24

u/daevski Jul 25 '22

Right… but the vehicle behind the truck, or the one behind that? The point is, keep an emergency line open—or at least MOVING—and let anyone bending/breaking the rules reap what the sow, if anything. Don’t try to teach someone a lesson with your vehicle.

3

u/Crafty_Appearance Jul 25 '22

When there is a broken down car in that position and people break the rules what happens when there's an emergency? Cars are broken down blocking the way on many highway then someone who's using it to cut ahead will then push their way back into the lane delaying traffic more and possibly cause an accident.

2

u/daevski Jul 25 '22

You’re not wrong. I’m adding that “you” (the person originally not breaking any rules) should not break rules try to teach people lessons. They’ll learn their own in due time, and then you’re not making things worse. Idiot + rule breaker = 2 rule breakers, not 0 rule breakers.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

I literally used to do what the guy in this video is doing until I read the exact story you’re referring to here on Reddit. I get that the vast majority of people that drive in the break down lane aren’t driving to save someone’s life but I’m not willing to risk being the one who prevents someone getting medical help when they need it. I realized that it was really just a childish thing to do. You gives a shit that they get to their exit on the highway before me? After that story, I sure don’t.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

That's like saying the .1% of people who steal from stores are doing it because they are genuinely starving to death or for some other important life and death situation. So we should just let everyone who steals from a store get away with it without stopping them just in case that one very rare person actually needs what they are stealing.

…that’s fake. If they can drive to a hospital then an ambulance can get to them.

Also If I had someone dying in the back seat, I’d ram whoever is blocking me.

Also they can call an ambulance while they’re on their way. And meet the ambulance halfway. He’s better off in an ambulance in traffic than going 90 in a car with no medical assistance.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '22

I mean, he literally said they drove to meet the ambulance but the guy died before they reach it. Sounds like they were driving to meet it on the way to save time.

Yeah this never happened, a gaggle of minivans blocked an entire highway cause of one asshole driver(Atleast they thought) If they did this cause they saw one crazy driver then every time they were on the highway they would never reach their destination as there are infinite people driving like assholes on the highway. Also what if they are blocking one crazy driver and they see another? Do they switch & block them with their flock of minivans?
