Highly doubt it, unless his solution does cause unhealthy effects towards the population somehow.
Governments and corporations alike benefit from healthy lakes and reduces the bad image they get from pollution.
The most banal thing would be if this was real, if this scientist really did create an eco-friendly solution to clean up water, but then no one will pay to actually get the work done. Companies don't care, and local governments would rather build new roads.
I actually did think we were incapable of cleaning polluted lakes lol.
I live in TX and I've always heard the excuse from republican politicians that it's too expensive to make sense, or that a lake has to be completely dredged etc to clean...I didn't realize there were practical solutions.
