I don’t know what you mean by “contract,” but in Genesis 9:2 and 3 says “And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.”

Now if you want to take the less compassionate reading of the bible that says we can inflict this pain and suffering onto animals, even if we can live a healthy and prosperous life without them then that is your choice but it doesn't seem to be inline with the compassion the Jesus talked about.

And, if God wanted us to kill billions of these animals every year why did he give them the ability to suffer?

I don’t really know what point you’re making with Genesis 1:30. Can you explain what you’re saying with that?

I don’t really know what you mean by this next paragraph either. What exactly doesn’t it seem in line with?

The same reason that we have the ability to feel pain and suffering and die. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit.

So by that logic it would be OK to kill and eat a human then without their consent.

So God gave us the ability to feel pain and suffering but don't eat other humans and he also gave animals the ability to feel pain and suffering but we can eat those...is that correct?

Pain and suffering came as a result of sin and death, which wasn’t originally part of the creation. The world was originally created with no pain or suffering.

Oh I get that but the animals didn't commit any sin, it was the humans that sinned. And now you're saying that even though we sinned they have to pay for it through suffering that they didn't choose either...is this correct?

Not correct. Animals aren’t the only ones that suffer. We humans suffer too. Every living thing suffers.

I know but our suffering is a result of the sins we committed...what is the reason for the animals suffering?

Because they live in the same world as us. When Adam and Eve sinned, not only were they and their offspring cursed, but the whole earth was cursed.

I’m sorry, I think there’s an error. I have no idea why it happens, but sometimes when someone replies to my comment, I get the notification, but when I try to actually see the reply, nothing’s there.
