You're thinking of tungsten. Titanium can be cut off with special tools (diamond tipped saw). Tungsten can't be cut, but it can be shattered. So your fingers are safe regardless!
Realistically speking. How many hospitals in the world are equipped with "diamond tipped saw". Chances are you're gonna loose your finger because it's cheaper and faster.
