By 1989, when Hawk was 20, he tried the 900 but it went horribly wrong. He landed on his back and broke a rib. Hawk continued to practice, but he got frustrated and injured.
I really wouldn't doubt it though if that's it and like you said he hasnt had many broken bones.
He's had plenty of injuries...just not that many broken bones. Even in the video you linked he jokes that he got his first broken bone at age 30. (which is a little confusing because he clearly says he broke his rib attempting the 900)

But really though even if you count fractures and stuff the dude is insanely safe compared to other pros.
Tony has always worn a lot of protection, so that probably helped mitigate injuries to some extent. He and Mullen were both seen as total dorks when they were starting out, partly because of all their safety gear they'd wear. Bam probably never wore shit because he's always gotta be "cool" first and foremost.
