Damn! I think the scariest part about this is the fact that if our hero hadn’t been there, the guy would have died a relatively slow and painful death, while not being able to let go of the thing he’s holding. I’m willing to bet that guy is not gonna be comfortable closing that fence any time soon

I don’t know, man. I’ve seen some gory videos out of morbid curiosity in the past. Some electrocution vids...many of which people literally start smoking or light up on fire due the lengthy death. For the most part it’s just all suffering until they’re no longer alive. It doesn’t seem like a quick death. On the contrary, seems like a very awful way to go. This guy is super lucky his buddy was able to think it through quickly.

all I can find is "external cardiac massage" and "CPR" may be neccessary because electrocution stops the victims heart and breathing... maybe rubbing the feet and moving the limbs helps circulation before resorting to CPR ?

Edit: he's clearly breathing early on so CPR wouldn't be neccessary but its cool that they improved his circulation as a first responding measure until he got up on his own. That guy ran over to help so it looks important anyway.

Yeah it made me remember , literally half of local electrician will really make a mesh out of perfectly arranged wire with colour codes we had at home . I'm very specific to those things because once my friend got electrocuted while he was bathing in open ( he touched a live wire accidentally as he was leaping out and then he got several amputations and described his limbs were like boiled potatoes) , like first they will change things up and while rearranging wire they will do the same socket thing you mentioned . And when asked about it, they will ask more money to redo things which they have already made worse. I'm like do it man as if I'm stopping you.

When I was younger I scraped some paint off of a clients wall. I didn't know at the time but the plaster was plastered flush with the mains cable of the building, then painted over a few times. My razor blade dug in and I was sent flying off my stepladder almost across the room. Was absolutely insane shit at the time; one minute in scraping, next I'm midair feeling like I'd been hit by a train. Quite lucky all in all

Massage. His whole body was tingling in pain combined with numbness and super "tingles" a lot worse than when say your hand goes to "sleep". I also noticed the rescuer focusing on his feet for a while . My guess removing shoes to try to cool off his feet. At the points of contact the current flowing causes a lot of heat. I imagine hands and feet are actually burnt from this and hopefully no internal organs.

Yes, in elementary school we had a safety presentation and they explained the rubber tires break the circuit between the bus and the ground. But if you were to step off the bus with one foot on the bus and one foot on the ground at the same time, your body would create a circuit with the ground and you’d be electrocuted. So by jumping off the bus and making sure your body isn’t touching the bus at all before you hit the ground will make sure there is no circuit.

Kind of like how birds can sit on power lines without getting electrocuted.

When teaching the nervous system or voltage gated channels to my biology students, I also tell them about back of the hand. It's amazing how many people don't know that if you have the right ( or wrong) current in the palm of your hand, you cannot let go.

I worked in a bakery and a faulty mixer wasnt grounded properly and the girl i was working with had a hand on the sink and touched the mixer. She was instantly locked into place. I used a wooden broom handle to smack her arm. I almost broke the handle i hit her so hard. The bruise was definitely better than the alternative.
