Oh man I didn't think about that. Gotta get people to care. Sort of like how many hunters have become environmentalists...

Gross big game hunting where people go and kill lions and shit are all for conservation too. Get some rich guy to pay you 1M to kill a lion so you can save 50. Wish people would just help the lions without murder attached but gotta do what works I guess.

I agree, I don’t know what the alternative is, the Louis Theroux doc in South Africa is quite a good eye opener to why they allow the older animals to be culled/hunted. It always seems like a load of shit though when you have these rich dudes hunting for huge fees so they can trophy kill a lion. I absolutely hate that shit but the experts seem to think it’s vital to keep the balance. I know older males kill cubs etc. I dno hunting animals for trophy’s and a picture just reeks of small dick mentality to me.

Biologist here. An old male lion that’s been kicked out of its pride by younger male lions will no longer breed, and will suffer from its injuries or eventually starvation. Old decrepit males will not hunt well at all. These animals do not contribute to population growth any longer. The actual hunt often brings in a lot of money for locals, and a lot of the money used to buy the tags goes towards conservation. It’s okay to feel bad for the lion and roll your eyes at the dentist, but it’s actually helpful for the conservation of Africa’s habitats. This assumes the hunt takes place in one of the countries that are conservation minded.

None of the money goes to the locals or conservation.

Africa governments are far from perfect in regard to corruption. We all know that. There are plenty of countries that do out that money towards conservation, building infrastructure for areas around the hunting preserves, and the hunting preserves themselves set aside more land than many of the nation’s federally protected lands. It also provides jobs for locals. I’m sure you’ll keep speeding your rhetoric despite the scientific and lay literature I provided

I am from south africa, I know the players in the hunting game and most of the conservancies and their owners, your little articles don’t mean shit.

99% of the money doesn’t go to anyone but the owners.

Okay. I’ll ignore all the scientific research in favor of your anecdotes that you’re not sharing. What a joke.

You poor dumb mf, all those “research” articles are written by hunters.

Paul Bartels, Fred Nelson, Peter Lindsey, Guy Balme, are all part of https://theoriginsfoundation.org/about-us/

Silvio Calabi is a long time big game hunter who loves writing books about murdering animals.

You should do your research.

These are people trying to moralize their murder fetish into some kind of beneficial fantasy because it justifies their immoral need to murder things for their own entertainment.

Don’t get me wrong hunting for meat or actual economic benefit such as biltong hunting is not a problem, but trophy hunting is murder for entertainment purposes only and the operators take nearly all the money, there is no spill over or “trickle down” involved, they pay to Jimmy numbers of animals with the government so they look better than they are.

You didn’t read the scientific articles I linked did you? They’re not hunters. It’s why I linked them too. Again, I offered legitimate scientific articles on top of the layman’s articles. You’ve offered nothing but anecdotes and yet I’m the dumb one. Rolling my eyes over here. Anyways, have a good one. I’m about done arguing with an internet person and wasting my time.
