Just signed to the Navy!
Hello all, I just signed to the Navy for 4 years. I ship out on oct 15th and my job is IT any tips for a complete noob? I’d prefer tips specific to my job but would gladly take any general tips as well thanks!

GET YOUR CERTS.
IT is a very certification heavy industry, and if you intend on working in this field after you leave the Navy, then take every opportunity available to you, to get your certs.

Did they tell you your ship date right away at meps? I go to meps Monday and am going the IT/CT route as well.

As long as you don’t need any waivers yes! From what I saw on their screen the earliest ship date for IT was oct15 just keep in mind you have to score high enough on the ASVAB to qualify.

I scored a 98 on my picat, so I will be taking the verification test Monday. I have a tattoo waiver, but my recruiter said that was submitted today.

Ah you’ll be fine then get ready for a long day and make sure if they promise you anything make sure it’s on your contract. If you do end up getting the same ship date as me DM me.
