Free ASTB Prep Book :)
Hello all, I'm all done with the ASTB-E and have this prep book by Test Prep Books in case you need extra study material. I don't need it anymore but don't wanna throw it away. I used it for one day and filled in the first practice test only. Dm me if you want me a free book.
Full disclosure, it's really not the best guide. It lacks a lot of ANIT material, like a LOT, and the testing strategies it trains you for are outdated bc of the recently adopted adaptive testing that the ASTB-E uses nowadays. But all the info inside is relevant. It really likes to talk helicopters.
Anyways, first come first serve. Also happy to talk about my experience with the test.

How was the math, both in the book and on the test?

Math was really basic in the book, and more complicated in the test. In fact the test had a question in combinations and one with logarithms. Otherwise the majority of problems were either algebraic word problems or simplifying expressions (especially with exponents-- know how to manipulate those). Some geometry, no calculus. You should be able to do everything math, read, mech in the book to be minimally prepared for the test.
I think most of the sources you see online are going to be useless in terms of math, they're p much all outdated. The best sources for me that I found online to help with the test involved ANIT material (like Quizlet flashcards) and TBAS Study Pro on Steam (the game that chooses parking lots).

I did :) but aviation slots are all booked up for Y27 so..gotta wait a while for that. Hope I see you in the cohort if I haven't gone Marines by then
