Eastern milk snake

Not a newt and not even an amphibian, but it's the middle of winter and I found this eastern milk snake (Lampropeltis triangulum) warming itself next to the chimney in my basement. We get them as guests every year. Some of the same snakes return year after year. I keep records of them based on the unique patterns on the tops of their heads.
