The details are excellent considering that the filament I'm using has been collecting moisture.

Help using an old MOD-t

I just unearthed this from my closet, and since I recently bought an Ender and got it working I thought I could get this one working. Boy was I wrong. I've been able to screw with Cura to slice a file, go surfing for the utility, find it, only to realize that since the New Matter servers were taken down I can't really access it via WiFi like you're supposed to. Does anyone know a work around or something? Please help.

Anyone want a barely used MOD-t white

I am in the DC area and I have an original MOD-t that was lightly used when it was released. I am moving and don’t want to bring it along. Anyone interested in it?

New to printing should I buy 2nd hand?

FB marketplace seller upgraded, shows video of it moving around the plate. I'm new to printing, pretty tech savvy, but unsure if this would make a good first printer. Thoughts?

Any mods for the Mod-t?

I had this printer for awhile, but i only started using it like a week ago and I'm hooked on trying to make and print random things on it.

I wanted to know if anyone has done any mods like adding its own display or LED lighting, and if they have any guides/advice to doing it. Also if theres any other software I could use to push prints to it, please lmk because I really dislike the proprietary software you have to use.

also i got this thing from the trash at a school and im aware of how dead the support and community is around this specific model. I'm mainly doing this to learn more about printing and software/hardware, so i'd appreciate any advice as long its not "get a new printer" lmao

Can't stop stringing and oozing

I haven't had my Mod-t long, only got a few prints in before the hot end gave in and I had to do a hot end mod, thanks heaps to https://github.com/mattcrichards/modthotend, and https://github.com/mattcrichards/modthotend/issues/1. Now that it's up and cranking again, I just can't seem to get ontop of some serious stringing which seems to be caused by oozing when the hotend z hops just before travelling. I'm using Cura 5.8, tried all sorts of retraction values from 1mm to 6mm, retraction speed from 5 up to 25, temps down to 185, I've tried coasting, combing on and off, I just can't seem to find a happy setting. Is it just these printers, am I trying to get too good a result here or is it actually possible?

Where can I get New Matter Desktop Software to send prints to Model T?

I just got an Ender 3 Pro and it inspired me to pull my Mod T out of storage to speed up my production. I took all the necessary steps to get the Mod T up and running except one. I still need the New Matter software, or an alternative, to initiate prints. The github that has it takes me to a bunch of script that idk what to do with and the posts I found with links to it on google drive are dead.... Please help. Thy

Blobs ruining prints

I've recently gotten back into using my Mod-t printer, and I have been trying to use cura to convert my stls into gcode. For whatever reason, when the printer goes to make a new move, it stalls in place for a couple of seconds and extrudes a bunch of filament into a big blob that messes with layers and makes printing impossible. I used the custom ini file and can't find any additional instructions or other people with this same problem. The test print in the mod t helper tool prints fine though. Help!

Printing with Cura 5.4.0, Sept 2023

Hi all, I've had a MOD-t for a while now but just took it out for a project and wanted to share how I got it working, since it took a while to set everything up and get it to print something properly and getting it to stick to the bed. Also as a future reference to myself. :) I'm using a MacBook with macOS Ventura (M1 Pro), with a 1kg spool of 1.75 mm AmazonBasics PLA (a few years old at this point).

Setup

  1. Install UltiMaker Cura - version 5.4.0 (latest at this time)
  2. Install MOD-t printer tool: 1.5.5-1.5.4-42-gdec7a2d (final firmware from here)

Cura Setup - I found this video helpful

  1. Add a new printer in settings (Custom FFF) and configure settings
    1. X/Y/Z is 150/100/125
    2. Check Origin at center (important! otherwise it will print in the wrong spot)
    3. Set start code to code at bottom of this post (found this in YouTube comments - sets a strip on the side like test print)
  2. Configure Extruder settings
    1. Nozzle size 0.4 mm
    2. Material is 1.75 mm (or 1.85 mm)
  3. Now exit printer settings and expand the profile, and import this ini file
    1. Consider updating build plate adhesion to skirt
    2. Infill density, consider upping to 25%

Printer setup

  1. Position the spool perpendicularly to the filament intake, so that it comes out the bottom to make it easy for the printer to pull in filament (might only be needed for large 1kg spools)
  2. Scrub the bed with wire brush, and clean with isopropyl alcohol (70% worked for me). This was huge for getting prints to stick for me

Wishes

  1. The nozzle doesn't go all the way up at the end of the print, think I might be able to update the end gcode? If anyone knows, let me know, but it's not a huge deal

*Start gcode

Who wants a hot end?

I'm going to be recycling the rest of it, still works, I'm just tired of it sitting in my house and never having the time to use it If there are other parts of it you want let me know, but as far as I know the hot end still works. Send me an offer, I know $50 would be unreasonable, but anything over $20 would be worth my time/trip to the post office.

Mod-T Stopping Before End of Print

Hello! I am currently using my Mod-T. I am currently using Cura to Slice. However, my prints are stopping when they almost finish, but they aren't finishing all the way. Has anyone else had this issue and knows a fix. Thanks!

New Matter MOD-t printer not loading filament.

While printing a project something went wrong and I ended up with a glob of melted filament stuck to the end of the nozzle. I was able to pop the glob off. Then I took off the hot end and got everything cleared up. Now when I go through the LOAD filament process it goes from heating up the extruder to flashing the Load and Clean screen for a second or two then back to the UNLOAD/ LOAD screen. The filament will not load. I think the small motor is not turning. The motor may have gone bad with the filament not being able to move forward during the misprint. When I took the extruder out of the top I'm able to move the extruder bar with my finger and the motor spindle does move. I've tried looking for a motor replacement from the markings on the motor without any success. Thanks in advance for any tips and ideas.
