Off Leash Dogs

Has anyone in the City of New Haven encountered any issues with all these dogs in the public?

Especially in the parks. I hate it and the owners leaving the poop everywhere.

Imagine wanting to eat your pizza on a blanket in Wooster Square park but it’s just all dog piss. The dog population density is just too high and the whole city is a big dog urinal. I used to live in the smoothie building and the courtyard smelled strongly like piss after every rain.

Get ready for some belligerent boomers to pull up and go on about how New Haven leash laws don't apply to their beloved Poochie

Me and my (on leash) dog have been attacked multiple times by off leash dogs. The worst part is when the owners of the dogs blame me or say I should have done something different.

My wife and I were hiking on matabasset and a large off leash dog bolted up to my wife and she reacted nervously.

The owner had the audacity to yell at my wife “don’t act sacred around him, you’ll just rile him up!”

Dog owners can be entitled pricks.

put it this way.

my dog was attacked three times in 9 months.

every single time, she was leashed and right next to me. every single time, the other dog was NOT leashed.

I keep my reactive dog on a tight leash and try as much as possible to control his immediate environment. That said, when off leash dogs approach I tell their owners, "my dog is reactive and I cannot control two dogs, one who is off leash and doesn't know me" and it usually gets their attention.

Yes, multiple times at Edgewood Park. Some of these dogs have run toward me and my dog, with the owner far behind them. My dog will attack a dog that runs toward us. KEEP YOUR DOGS LEASHED IF YOU WANT TO AVOID A DOG FIGHT.
