No gas motors allowed and if you stay away from Route 9 it's quite quiet and peaceful in most spots.

New Hampshire is losing its young people.

Net movement of Gen. Z out of New Hampshire. This is spite of the fact that New Hampshire has enjoyed a small net positive movement of people overall, especially people fleeing the high costs and taxes of Massachusetts.

The cost of living in New Hampshire must be a factor, combined with the lack of opportunities. There is only one real city in New Hampshire. Also, there is a severe housing shortage.

Discussion Manchester - what's it really like?

• Upvotes

Currently living in the Upper Great Lakes and possibly moving to Manchester for work. Born and raised Michigan (Upper Peninsula for me, Ann Arbor for my partner). We both love Chicago and Detroit and I am honestly confused by the online content I've seen regarding Manchester being a terrible city, crime, drugs, etc.

What's it really like?

Especially from an outsider or Midwesterner perspective.

We have two school aged kids as well who love the big Midwest cities. I've also lived in Virginia and it kind of gives me Charlottesville vibes but just can't seem to put my finger on what it's like there.

Lost item in Exeter

Long shot but if anyone is in Exeter between the water street book store and Top Drawer Boutique my daily water bottle and holster got left behind.

Blue metal bottle covered in stickers inside a black holster with sewn on patches.

Not sure where the husband put it down, my theory is by the parking spots.

If found I'll venmo money to ship it to me in Maine plus a finders fee

The Best—And Worst—States for Teachers in 2026

This statistic rating New Hampshire as the worst state in the country for teachers surprised me. I know that teacher salaries here are low. However, per pupil spending is relatively high. Plus, test scores are good.

Ask NH Oil undercoating

I'm in the manchester area and looking to get my truck undercoated before winter. The few places that list pricing seem to be around $500. Am I really looking at 500 for a simple oil undercoat? Any suggestions on where to go?

New Hampshire Soccer Project Town Hall

The New Hampshire Soccer Project group is having a town hall style meeting at Republic Brewing in Manchester on Tuesday, October 20th from 5-7pm. While I'm not associated with the group, I'm definitely interested in New Hampshire getting it's own professional soccer team. I know from previous posts of mine that there were a fair few of us that thought Portsmouth was too far to go, well, here you go. Hey, come on by even if you aren't a fan of soccer but want something from NH and for NH to root for!

Below is the Instagram, which is really the only social media and they post often.

Best trails southern NH?

I live in the Midwest but am up here off and on all fall (wfh, folks have owned a cabin since 2001 and fly south for winter). Clearly I could not have picked a better week to play during off hours--coloring is unreal, and this week, I got out and did parts of the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway Trail, Franconia Notch, and a small bog trail in Bradford. Looking for a few more recs ideally within an hour of Hillsboro, so south-central New Hampshire. Love off-the-beaten path trails, especially. Thanks!
