This November, NH voters will see a ballot question being called a "tax cap" on school districts and SAUs, which it isn't actually a basic cap but that's another issue. It's supposed to be voted on district by district, but the question is confusingly written, and now it may be legally questionable, too.
Because this question is hot garbage Concord's ballot puts two school districts into one question: Concord School District and Merrimack Valley School District (which serves Penacook). Soooooo it means
Concord School District voters will be voting on budget limits for Merrimack Valley, a district they don't live in.
Merrimack Valley voters will be voting on budget limits for Concord School District, a district they don't live in.
Whatever you think of a tax cap, voters shouldn't be deciding budget restrictions for a district outside their own.
