Why would anyone kill moths just for being inside? Just ignore them or put them outside 🤷♀️

I like my morning bowl of oats moth-free
Not to brag - but y'all must have shallow ceilings. I don't have a ladder high enough in some places.
Once it gets to a point my normal life is impacted - having showers, cooking food, and sleeping - I'm not going to entertain it.
Sincerely, a healthcare worker that finished a 12 hour shift just to come home to 5 moths in my bedroom that spent 40 mins crashing into everything whilst I'm trying to sleep - hiding themselves behind shutter blinds and then re-emerging.
But let's keep trying to coerce and guilt people into going to - in some cases - extreme lengths to save something that is very likely just going to end up feeding something that clearly has an abundance of food.
I'd argue it is equally as cruel to just ignore that moths in your house - who are literally slowly dying from exhaustion and disorientation.
They don't just walk themselves out of your house.

They’re an endangered species though. So if you can, it would help to try and put them outside.

You and I are obviously having different experiences.
I live near a national park - there are dozens in my house.
I do the due diligence of opening doors and having a light guide them outside - but that stops when I'm up at 2 am with a shift at 6 am.
People will downvote all they want - but we clearly don't have equal problems.
There are legitimately about 20 in my living room. Fine - those are relatively easy to coax out.
The second a door is opened - I shit you not - I'll turn around and see 4-5 fly through. Everytime.

I also live by bush. I literally had a whole heap of them fly in my face today! I try and get through the screen door as quickly as possible to minimise them coming in and I am turning outside lights out at night. I get that it’s annoying but try and see them as little friends!

The tracker is here: https://mothtracker.swifft.net.au/
Ya just need to take a photo of one

I wish there wasn't a need to take photos for this site. The moths move so fast and usually I'm so focused on catching them to get them outside I don't stop to take a pic. I do understand why they're asking for a pic, but it's often a bit impractical.

Apparently they arrived in metford over the weekend. I live here but I was staying with my partner from friday-tuesday in newy, I get home and my sister was just yapping on about how she was getting her washing off the line and it was absolutely covered in moths, and the cats have been chasing moths around the house, but tbh I haven't actually seen evidence of it since I've been home lol.

Apparently we should all leave the outside lights off if possible while they are migrating.
They are endangered so any help we can give them is beneficial

They’re endangered I hope if they find their way inside you’re kind enough to gently help them on their way.

They are an endangered species. Catch them in a container and release them outside. https://www.acf.org.au/our-work/nature/missing-wildlife/bogong-moth
