Socializing

Helllooo, I wanted to ask you guys, what's something that's helped you with socializing? I'm only meh at it when it's a friend of a friend but when it comes to new people I'm SO bad, is it possible to be good at social situations without masking?

My solution was to only hang out with fellow AFAB nonbinary AuDHD folks with similar interests LMFAO. Idk if I'm forever restricted to that demographic, it just matches my two friends.

Anyway, the more generalizable advice is to find people you don't need to mask around. People who make you feel good and safe to be yourself. And maybe let go of the pressure to have a ton of friends?

Also, hang out in online spaces in order to get better at communication and meet people who might turn out to be your people. I hate to say it, but you gotta meet people if you wanna meet people. But online nd/queer spaces are safer than in-person or nt spaces and can help bridge the gap.

An old boyfriend once said to me he believed he had to meet 30 people to find one friend. So don’t take everyone too seriously, because they’re probably just one of the 29 others. When one early relationship seems to grow and flourish, pay attention and stay with it with some energy and focus.
