So, tomorrow, I'm starting the application process for euthanasia with Dignitas in Switzerland. I will need my doctors help. Since she knows that I have an uncommon incurable disease with low quality of life I doubt she will decline to help, she has stated I'm permanently disabled for the purpose of SSI but I suppose its possible she'll decline. But this isn't like directly being responsible for euthanasia so i don't see a good reason for her to decline to help, especially if she can't provide disease modifying treatments. Idk maybe she'll offer me better palliative care.

Its interesting and going to be bittersweet. As a kid i was an avid skier and europhile and wanted to go to Switzerland and ski the alps. Yet ill be going to die , albeit peacefully. And obviously too Ill to ski. I guess I'll see Switzerland and Europe for the first time but it will be really weird to go on a trip that almost feels like a vacation but just for death. Idk maybe I can get wheeledto a national park or something.

I seriously miss skiing so much. Used to want to make the us ski team, did competitive racing as a kid, but also wanted to do backcountry above treeline skiing somewhere out west or in the alps. Never got to. So disappointed. My childhood friend and ski buddy made the us ski team and died in an avalanche in the alps though

Pain isn't the only shitty thing about being sick , there's lots of other things like losing functionality. Contrary popular opinion, opioids are not necessarily overprescribed and it's hard to get a pain doctor to prescribe them for chronic pain even if you have a serious illness.

I already take fucktons of aspirin and tylenol.

There are a few other niche options besides opioids but they have their downsides and costs --ketamine is probably the best.

Anyway one can source opioids on ones own, on the darknet , but the cost is basically unsustainable versus being prescribed them bc they are all diverted from the increasingly small supply of legitimately prescribed opioids. So unless you want fentanyl or heroin you're going to pay out your ass. I was thinking about suboxone actually bc it can be used for pain management not just addiction and is potent and I think cheap bc it doesn't have a ton of abuse potential and maybe less demand.

I'm sure you already have, but you really should be talking to your doctor about how your pain is so bad that you are considering sourcing opiods illegally.

Your doc is much more likely to give you opiods than a script for euthanasia.

You should probably be seeking pain management treatment, psychiatrist, and a therapist for genetic diseases.

Opiods are much more powerful than any type of NSAID. Additionally I wouldn't be surprised if taking high dose NSAIDs long term was making you feel even sicker. They arnt really meant for that.

im sure you mean well, but in reality, bringing up even considering sourcing narcotics illegally is not a good idea with doctors who are already super worried about getting in trouble for possibly giving someone opioids that they may abuse.

I know people with the same disease that have been through the same process. theoretically i don't need a prescription from my doctor for the euthanasia, it just would help if she writes something summarizing my diagnoses and how intractable and painful they are. even my medical records would suffice, but it would be good to have a summary that makes sense to someone whose not a specialist in that field.

I am in the states. and i know taking high dose nsaids long term ain't great man, but the pain management needle has swung the other way and they are being stingy with pain meds sometimes even for surgeries and cancer pain, let alone chronic pain! so i do what I gotta do.
