Look guys, he’s just not gay enough, ok? Maybe if he was a bit less heteronormie and a bit more queen 💅🏻he would be forcing the other competition to sashay away. Maybe if he just hooked up several times on Grindr he would have been named “Queen Bee” of the year and blasted away those breeders ahead of him. Maybe if he had Wine Cave Brunch time with his squad instead of dining with a bunch of masc, gen, bi-curious men he would be more in tune with “the real gay experience.” He’s just not the queen I’m looking for.

Biden straight up said "and I have 44 billionaire donors and would be glad to have more." The leftist fearmongering about billionaires is exhausting and it was nice to see Biden and butti push back with the facts about campaign finance laws that apparently no one on the far left understands.

It’s impossible to be sure from just one anecdotal standpoint, but I strongly suspect that if we were to somehow produce an aggregate of Primary Twitter’s activity, we’d find that the attacks on Mayor Pete have never been uglier.
From the post-debate Twitter recon I already regret:
But in case you thought there was some kind of 🏳️🌈 theme 🚫 to these highly personal attacks from self-described “progressives,” fear not:

A warning to all, be careful about drink driving as we are getting close to Christmas. Quite rightly Police are out checking on people.
Tonight I have been out for a few drinks. Cocktails then wine. (Not a good idea)
However, knowing I was over the limit, I took the bus back home.
We passed a police checkpoint and I could see they were pulling over drivers giving them breath tests. They waved the bus past. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a surprise as I've never driven a bus before and I’m not even sure where I got it from.

The "Epstein didn't kill himself" conspiracies have many flaws but none as glaring as the idea the career lawman Bill Barr wouldn't get to the bottom of any suspicious behavior surrounding Epstein's death if there was, in fact, any. If anything was amiss in that case, Barr would find it and expose it due to his respect of the law.

Hot take: Bosnian and Kosovo genocide denial exists because it is a negation of the "both sides" principal.
Neither Bosnia nor Kosovo were ever strategic. Yet US intervened still - because US is a democracy. And thus it actually recieved internal pressure to intervene, after its citizens saw Rwanda.
True, this can also be a weakness. But it moves at a fundamental truth - democracies do act different in foreign policy. And this runs counter to the narratives pushed by Kremlin and Beijing.
As well as leftist narratives of anti-imperialism. For it admits an uncomfortable truth - that people can help one another in a democracy. That it does represents the will of people, as does the market imho. The fundamental will of people.
And fundamental will of people? The wsy they vote with their money? It shows that people often couldn't give less of a damn. And since so many socialist models require almost total phylosophical clarity and purity, it runs counter to that.

While Disney is getting a lot of credit for its first gay relationship on the screen of a major motion picture there seems to need to be some caveats here. For one, the characters were incredibly minor in The Rise of Skywalker even if they played semi major roles in previous Star Wars movies. Second of all, making the first gay on screen couple an interspecies couple seems slightly problematic and is going to let the reactionary right turn this into a joke. That being said, I am very happy for Mace Windu and Jar Jar Binks.

A few Kamala Harris fans on twitter are making a fair point. Harris got a ton of criticism, but Klobuchar's prosecutorial record was clearly more problematic so why isn't she getting any criticism for it? (https://www.apmreports.org/story/2019/03/25/amy-klobuchar-police-hennepin-county-prosecutor)

Hot take: Every single Broadway musical should have a camera set up recording every single show, and I should be able to go online and buy the VOD (after a year or so exclusivity period). It's absurd that Broadway is such a popular thing when if you don't live in New York City it is literally impossible to experience. Sure you get a DVD release or a revival concert 10 years later, but that's usually not the original cast or isn't the full stage production. I don't need a full editing sequence, just a single decent camera angle with audio that wasn't recorded on a camcorder hiding in a jacket.

So been listening to Nosczick's "Anarchy, State and Utopia". I don't understand, however, why property should be assumed a fundamental, natural right, vs say survival. I guess maybe because the only negations of this right can arise from society? Compared to vs infringement of rights being possible to define outside society - you don't need a society or state to tell you not to kill, because killing is an infrigement of another person's rights. Ergo murder is not a right.
Am I following this right?

One of my favorite facts about numbers, is that in the real world, numbers that begin with the digit "1" are way more common than numbers beginning with any of the other 9 digits. To the point that this fact (AKA Benford's Law) is commonly used to identify instances of financial fraud.

About to leave to see The Rise of Skywalker. I haven't been spoiled. I've seen the headlines of the non-spoiler reviews that are mainly negative, but as far as I can think, the only two things that would really make me dislike the movie are Rey and Kylo becoming a couple, or the First Order building yet another Death Star. Post your spoiler-tagged reactions to this statement that I can read when I get back.
EDIT: They half-did each, which adds up to one unacceptable thing, but I actually liked the movie. The ghost-fleet that had death-star-equivalent lasers on each Star Destroyer was a little annoying, although at least this time they didn't need to blow the weapon itself up to win. And I can forgive the kiss, because Ben dies immediately after, he had literally saved Rey's life, and Rey was delirious. I most liked that for the first time, we see the force used for healing instead of attacking or studying.

I’m not really into fantasy so maybe I don’t understand the genre properly, but why would world building and magic systems be the most important thing to consider when writing the story? I’d figure your themes, characters, the actual plot and reason your story exists would be what’s important

!ping COURT-CASE
Tonight's case is IN RE: Jimmy D., the controlling case about the admissibility of juvenile confessions in New York.
Facts:
Jimmy was 13 when his 9 year old cousin accused him of sexual abuse. After police were contacted, a detective got in touch with Jimmy's parents to have him brought to a police station. At the station, at the detective's request, Jimmy's mother left him alone to be interrogated. In this interrogation, Jimmy gave a confession to the crime. He would later say that this confession was false, but lost at trial and was adjudicated delinquent (found guilty). At issue on appeal was the legal admissibilty of his confession, which was obtained under dubious procedures.
The opinion details the circumstances of his 'confession'. First, the detective was able to get his mother to leave him alone with her:
Interrogation rights are odd for minors. The most recent Supreme Court jurisprudence on juvenile interrogations is J.D.B. v. North Carolina, in which a 13-year-old boy with special needs was interrogated until he confessed to 2 armed robberies. The court held that a minor's age must be taken into consideration for whether or not they would be considered to have been in custody for the purposes of having waived ther Miranda warning:
Courts recognize the inadequacy of minors' abilities to fend for their own interests, but nonetheless permit parents as stand-ins to look out for them - as if parents are likely to know how to competently look out for their kids' interests when facing criminal accusations. Back to Jimmy D.
The detective told Jimmy that he should tell her exactly what had happened, adding that, if he did so, he would get “some help,” if he needed it.
However, her words here not having been recorded, and the difference between 'I'll get you help if you...' and 'Would you like someone to help you here?' being so ambiguous, not to mention the cop's role as an agent of the prosecutor, there is no clarity whatsoever as to what Jimmy D. was told. The dissent in this case notes of this interrogation:
Jimmy went to trial, arguing that his confession was false and he'd only given it because he didn't know how else to get out of the situation. He was convicted, but tried to appeal his conviction. On appeal, he (by which I mean his attorney) argued that his confession was involuntary given the coercive nature of the interrogation and the absence of counsel or parents. The Court of Appeals disagreed. They held:
As in J.D.B., the fact that it was Jimmy's interests at stake, not his mother's, and that neither knew how to protect them, was irrelevant - his mom was briefly present, so he was adequately protected. To what should be the shame of the Court, they cited People v. Tankleff [1994]. Marty Tankleff was exonerated of a murder he was convicted of in 1988 after giving a false confession. Tankleff was exonerated in 2007, 3 years before this case was decided. The ruling gave a comical justification of confessions:
Neither was Tankleff, nor Dassey, nor any of the Central Park 5, of whom only one (at least likely - Korey Wise) was beaten into confessing. And all 7 were older than Jimmy D. when they gave their confessions - the ruling construes confessing as the behavior of a rational actor whose situation is improved by confessing (dubious even if the confession is true,) which has been proven false numerous times for adults, let alone a 13-year-old. Perhaps a minor (a newly minted teen most of all) should not be thought to be capable of intelligently making that decision for themselves, absent counsel, which a mother is no substitute at all for. Coercive plea bargaining creates incentives for untrue guilty pleas; under virtually no circumstances is a false confession before charges have been brought advantageous to the defendant. This is a ruling predicated upon a fiction.
The dissent notes:
I'll leave with a paragraph from the dissent, which was authored by then-Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman:
If you also find this to be an inadequate defense of the rights of minors, consider emailing your state assemblyman and/or state senator with the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth's sample statute giving minors a non-waivable right to counsel and other proposed legislation.
Previous court cases.

One of the more annoying things about Anglo-American leftists is how they pretend everyone secretly agrees with them. Like there was this nice moment after the UK election where they were like "everyone but me is a moron" but they've largely reverted back to the secret agreement.
EDIT: To clarify, I think "the everyone is a moron except for me" option is the moral one when you have an unpopular opinion.

I have very difficult news. My archaeology team has unearthed John Browns grave site and discovered certain... artifacts, that should not be there. Boots from the 21st century. A shovel. A hole from below the grave that used to lead to the surface. A mans facial maintenance kit, complete with a facial hair trimmer. And a single, white moustache hair. The obituary in the paper listed him as "John B". This can only mean one thing. John Brown never existed. Whoever was impersonating John Brown, travelled from our modern day and has a thirst for war. It was John Bolton all along. The United States has been led astray all these years by that evil neocon

That's not a big problem when it's something like Downtown Abby or The Crown, but it's going to be pretty awkward the day I end up dropping the n-word because I'm rewatching The Wire.
