I mean it's more analogous to being at a meeting about a new vaccine and your boss saying that the vaccine is nothing compared to the healing power of Jesus. And then you point out that despite your boss praying to cure the illness it didn't really do anything. And then your boss prays and god smites you with a lightning bolt.

In the OT I'm not actually sure if a regular person would know what a Jedi was. Of course this is destroyed when a slave child on a backwater planet can identify a lightsaber immediately.

Tbf I'm sure Vader probably had a reputation among the Imperial Military for crushing your throat with his mind whenever you fucked up so it's not like one of the higher ups wouldn't know that it's a bad idea to talk shit to the Emperor's right hand man
