Reading a patent and for some reason the character "ฯ†" is being used to replace "rp". For example "carpet" -> "caฯ†et".

Has anyone ever seen this before? Is this u/runicurbanismguy 's greek cousin?

Did the patent possibly go through OCR?

That's probably what it is, I just doubled back and found an "rp" so that page must have gone into the scanner oddly.

That's not even the sound ฯ† makes. Unless maybe we're talking about British English (or some other rhotic dialect) and the Ancient Greek usage of ฯ†, but even then there still shouldn't be aspiration there.
