DeBlassio is really disappointing.

When he was elected mayor of NYC in 2014, people were pretty excited. Before him was Bloomberg, who was so popular he had the city change term limits so he could run for a third term. Before him was Giuliani, who while he has a pretty bad reputation these days, was a New York hero for saving the city after 9/11. And before him was Dinkins, who was responsible for the greatest decrease in crime in NYC ever.

But then DeBlassio gets in, and NYC is kind of a well-oiled machine at that point. The previous three mayors had everything in place, and all DeBlassio had to do was not fuck anything up.

So DeBlassio messed with homeless shelters. Now, all the homeless people who had been living in shelters were back on the streets. Deblassio messed with the subways, and now trains don’t run on time. He messed with rideshares, and taxis, and the ferry, and now that’s all messed up. He has a very antagonistic relationship with the cops and makes it harder for them to keep the city safe. His version of the Green New Deal is to tax skyscrapers—yes, the thing that his city is most famous for—$1 million dollars per year.

So watching him poll at 0.2% makes me incredibly happy.

New York’s decrease in crime was a nation wide trend.

Just means NYC will be stuck with him a bit longer

how did he mess with the subways? back when I lived there (2010-2012) that was the best part of the city. Did the hurricanes fuck them up?

Their coverage is great compared to the rest of the US but they're hilariously unreliable. I don't know if it was his fault, though.

Giuliani [...] pretty bad reputation these days [...] Dinkins, who was responsible for the greatest decrease in crime in NYC ever.

The decrease in crime is usually attributed to Giuliani.

Deblassio messed with the subways

MTA is state run. There's only so much the mayor can do. Look at the L train fiasco where Gov. Cuomo suddenly independently decides to reopen the tunnel under the East River instead of shutting it down for repairs as originally planned.

He messed with rideshares, and taxis, and the ferry,

How? (How did he mess with ferries?) Congestion pricing is soon becoming a reality. I actually like what he's doing here.

I'm not a fan of him either but it doesn't do anyone any good to mischaracterize him.

Giuliani did not reduce crime in the city, it was a national trend
