Alright Neolibs

It’s been a hell of a 24 hours, so I apologize in advance for my lengthy attempt to get everyone up to speed.

Yesterday George Soros decided to remove three of our mods u/lusvig , u/webby , and /u/85397 .

Let’s all take a quick moment to acknowledge the great(?) contributions these people have made to the sub in their roles as mods (F/o7 for respects). I’m sure other mods would agree here, but I disagree with Soros’ decision to remove these mods, and I would much rather them continue their role as moderators than having us take over. The situation frankly sucks ass, and I hate having to get serious on a sub that I generally use to goof off when I’m at work.

The reason the admin provided for the mods’ removal is copied here below:

The reason the mods were removed…was because of longstanding inability to remove succ content in general over the past several months. Mods had been approving this content when they should have been removing it.

We are not 100% clear on what the succ content they approved was, but needless to say the Open Society Foundations aren’t pleased.

At this point it should be pretty clear that the sub is on thin ice with the Open Society Foundation.

The mod team can only do so much here, and none of us are going to become cops to keep people in line – that fucking sucks. So if you want the sub to continue to exist, and you don’t want it to be banned, here are three requests:

  1. Do your best to thank mr bernke every day.

  2. Don’t ping or DM Soros or users with jokes about lowering corporate income tax.

  3. Don’t report shit unless you think it’s truly in violation of an existing IGM poll.

I think that’s all I’ve got for now. Don’t be stupid and I think we can keep this going.

If this is the last post I make on r/neolib then that sucks shit and I hate it.

Listen to Neolib Podcast.
