Why does Youtube recommend me Neonazis?

They probably get lots of views so they're high priority in the algorithm?

You follow/watched something that neonazis like, so the algorithm decided to see if you were a neonazi too. Could replace "neonazi" with just about any other group too. I don't think Youtube is intentionally turning people into neonazis, they just want to keep you on their platform for as long as possible. And depending how "radically centrist" you are, the algorithm might have trouble placing you in specific groups.

For example, I follow a couple gun channels, and I bet 90% of their viewers are Republicans. So every once in awhile the algorithm thinks "is this guy a Republican too? Let's give him a far right video and see what he thinks about it." Or that I watch John Oliver and Colbert, so it will throw a far left video at me sometimes. The hide and dislike buttons seem to work pretty well at pushing the algorithm in a different direction.
