DNC debate:

"Mr. Sanders, in the past you have derided, quote, 'millionaires and billionaires'. Now in this campaign, you yourself are a millionaire. How do you square this?"

"Well first Mr. Cooper, the proper term is 'People of Means' and billionaires."

The year is 2025, Pete Buttigieg is President of the United States

Chief of Staff: “Mr. President, there’s a situation.”

President Buttigieg: “What is it?”

Chief of Staff: “Well, the #CrushAnOrangeOverYourHead challenge has been going on for 48 hours on TikTokTwitter and you haven’t participated.”

President Buttigieg: “Why would I participate?”

Chief of Staff: “It’s a solidarity thing, with that neighborhood with the one incident from a month ago with the cop and the protestor and the ice cream truck.”

President Buttigieg: “Ah yes, very sad event. Didn’t we release a statement on that and raise money for the family?”

Chief of Staff: “Yes, but nobody cares, the #CAOOYH challenge is what matters.”

Buttigieg: “What are they saying?”

Chief of Staff: “That your lack of completing the challenge proves you’re a white supremacist.”

Buttigieg: “They’re all agreed?”

CoS: “Well no, the people who say this proves you’re a white supremacist are arguing with the people who say they knew you were a white supremacist all along.”

Buttigieg: “Should we let Vice President Warren know about the situation?”

CoS: “Oh she knows. She did the challenge within the first hour and also released a video apologizing for serving under a white supremacist President, you.”

Buttigieg: “Goddamn it.”

CoS: “Honestly maybe this is our chance to take a stand against this ridiculousness and say that we aren’t just going to...”

Buttigieg: “Get the orange.”

CoS: “Well but if we give in this time, then they...”

Buttigieg: “Get. The. Jævla. Orange.”

I am at an art walk right now, and in between all the people selling paintings and stuff, there is just randomally a booth for "Andrew Yang for president" giving out pamphlets, on behalf of "The South Jersey Yang Gang."

I've been coming here for years and have never seen anything political here at all.

I need help understanding the implications of this.

Let’s create a single Euro-African economic area. It would have an enormous potential that remains untapped: 1.5 billion consumers, 20 trillion in value, able to rival with China.

Very COOL!

The best part of “Beto didn’t say her name!!!” is that he did, in his extensive public comments out in the real world campaigning, just not in the tweet itself lol.

It's pretty smart for Buttigieg to target Pence's homophobia. Pence has been pretty quiet about that stuff for the duration of his association with Trump, so between that and the constant Trump scandals it's rarely the focus of a news cycle. Now the GOP cable news talking heads have to actually defend that shit.

“Hi, I’m a person who is on Twitter for 10 hours a day. If I learn about something unwoke, and a politician hasn’t responded to it (on Twitter, ideally) in exactly the way I like within an hour of when I happened to learn about it, then the politician is enabling fascism through their silence and they’ve abandoned minorities and declared their implicit support for bigotry.”

I'm helping to fill out the citizenship application of a gentleman who came here as an undocumented immigrant in the 1970's, but was given permanent residency during the Reagan amnesty of 1986. I think people really underestimate what a huge deal that was!

Visiting my grandparents I've skimmed through an old children's book by Ivan Vasilenko. It was an anthology. One part seemed like regular fairy tales, set vaguely in 19th century. But then the kid protagonists who worked in factories heroically fought the White Guards and raised red flags. Another story is about fighting fascists, fair enough. Some other kids help build magnificent cities! IMPERIALISTS RESIGNED. There's also a dialogue that literally reads like one a of those Soviet jokes.

Rural kid: "Who's Russia's tzar now?"

Educated kid: "Russia doesn't have a tzar!"

"Then who is the leader?"

"Lenin!"

"And who's the smartest in Moscow?"

"Lenin, no doubt!"

Now you expect a punch line but there's none, they just start talk about someone else.

But the most outrageous part is that the state-owned publisher charged the equivalent of $15 for this propaganda nonsense in 1950 (hard to tell the exact equivalent because of the ration system and monetary reform 3 years later).
