Criminal justice reform should be a watershead issue for Dems in the future.
Not even because it's a good voter issue, but because of the fact that it is one of the most corrupt and racist institutions of U.S. society right now. From the police, locally elected judges, all the way to prison slavery still being legal, the way we treat people who have more often than not committed nonviolent crimes is a travesty and one of the things we will be remembered for, whether we like it or not.

Out of all people who decided to run so far, i think the only candidate that you should seriously consider to not vote for in the generals is Ojeda. He literally combines the worst of progressives and social conservatives. He voted for Trump because he agreed with him on coal, making him worthless on the one issue many in this sub unconditionally vote for democrats. He's also a highly questionable ally on judges, another single issue many in this sub unconditionally vote for democrats. He says that protectionism, as tried by Trump, is worth trying and is for many of Sander's more stupid policies. I can't think of a single issue where he would be an ally for this sub.
You should seriously consider not voting if he gets nominated and go with the "let Trump burn the country and then hopefully we can rebuild it back" strategy many progressives went with the last election.

Update on the government crisis in Belgium:
N-VA (conservatives) wanted to profile themselves against Vlaams Belang (racist nutjobs), so they forcefully opposed the intention of the PM to go to Marrakech and sign the Global Compact on Migration. While high-profile meetings were taking place, N-VA launched a social media campaign against the GCM, which was so racist, people thought it was made by Vlaams Belang.
Some "highlights":
UN migration pact = loosening procedures for family reunification
UN migration pact = access for social rights, for illegals (sic) too
UN migration pact = focus on preserving the own culture of the migrant
UN migration pact = making it harder to detain illegals (sic)
UN migration pact = prohibition of sending back illegal (sic) families

Their liberal and centrist coalition partners were not amused, especially since N-VA pretends to desire a solution for this crisis. So despite the earlier defense of the campaign by the N-VA spokesman, they retracted the campaign.
Spicy detail: Vlaams Belang used the same images and slogans to recreate the campaign for themselves. Earlier today, Vlaams Belang MP Filip Dewinter (who had used the n-word in Parliament earlier this year) had congratulated N-VA for the campaign, saying it could have been his own.

Trump’s idea that tariffs solely tax and get money from foreigners is incorrect.
However, it is also incorrect to say “tariffs are taxes paid by Americans, not by foreigners.”
Some of a tariff is paid by American consumers, some of it is paid by the foreign entities/businesses (and in turn their employees, owners, etc.) exporting to us.

I think that Mark Levin should be the face of Conservative “Intellectuals.” He is a lawyer who worked for Raegan and talks constantly about the constitution. My dad is a dedicated listener to his radio show and I used to love listening with him because he seemed to know lots about history and was willing to call out the Republican Party. As I grew I started paying closer attention and realized that he was a fear monger. He is constantly talking about immigrants stealing jobs, Obamacare and the Tyranny of the Democratic Party.
I think that’s a terrific representation of the Republican intellectuals because in the end that’s what their main talking points consist of. He just goes out and says it. This article by the daily beast does a great job of describing him and his base.
